Great retort when everything else you tried failed.

Still want to push your narrative for Boucher in a time where there were only 120 players in the league

My guy, your argument of "Zibanejad scored more points so he's better" while simultaneously ignoring performance relative to contemporaries, award/all star voting and more is so stubborn, I genuinely can't tell where bias ends and a genuine lack of comprehension begins. Or I suppose you could just be a troll.

Regardless, it is abundantly clear you do not have any intention of having a genuine debate or considering opposing evidence, so have a good night.

It's pretty near impossible to compare players from different eras and then opinions are opinions.....everybody has one.

On Zibanejad he's been great for us until fairly recently. He didn't get the contract he did for nothing. His production numbers and overall play justified giving him that at the time. His game kind of dropped last year though and he and his line got owned by Florida and Barkov's line in last year's playoffs. Whether that's been part of his confidence issues this year I have no idea but his focus has been shit and he's made a lot of soft plays that have come back to hurt us which is why his minus numbers are so horrific. I don't want to kill the guy but hockey like almost anything else is a lot about what have you done lately? That's why all the negativity in his direction.

Career and legacy wise he's a fairly big reach to become an HOF player. If he can get over a 1000 points and win a Cup that would help. I'd think he'd have to do at least both.

Frank Boucher was ranked #61 by THN of the 100 Greatest Hockey players.

Not to diminish what Zibanejad was once upon a time, but he’s not even the best Rangers forward of this era.

Siddi is Swedish, if I’m remembering correctly, so there’s a bit of bias involved here IMO.
Who would you put ahead of him?

I am sorry but your argument in regards to players in a league with 120 players is not flying.

So all of a sudden hockey media is the gospel of truth? Of course pioneers from way back and nostalgia carries alot of weight when creating those rankings.

Panarin has two 1st team all star selections and a 2nd team as well as two top-5 Hart finishes in five years ...
Panarin also has been outscored (goals) by Mika every season except last one since he joined the Rangers.

Panarin has been outscored by Mika in every playoffs since joining the Rangers.

I seriously believe people underrate Mikas career as a Ranger.

Emily Kaplan is lost. Guetznel was a rental. He didn't change Carolina's fortunes. All of this BS about the rental players. One player isn't making much of a difference. Carolina lost in the playoffs. Again.

She mentioned the Knicks and the Garden in the pod. She said the Knicks made moves after a successful season. Moves as in being chaotic. The Knicks had to consolidate their assets. They had too many picks which were losing their value so they made the trade with the Nets for Bridges. A week before the Bridges trades, Jake Fischer who was with Yahoo Sports at the time wrote the Knicks blew their chance of turning those picks and pick swaps into a player because the Knicks had become a good team and their picks would not be so high. Even the acquired picks had lost value. If you listen to Windhorst's pod and Zack Lowe's pod, so many teams coveted OG and Bridges. They were offering picks and pick swaps. The Knicks got both players. Barnett and Quickly for OG. Randle's contract is expiring soon and they were not planning to sign him to a new deal. KAT is a guy they have coveted for a while. Made the trade.

Stick to what you know Emily.

Those Knicks trades are good examples of what the Rangers should do with their young players. Package and trade them for upgrades who raise the ceiling of the team , instead of sitting on your hands and praying Miller ever becomes a top 4 defenseman, or Kakko ever becomes a top 6 player, to use a couple, but not the only examples.

I don’t even see a serious argument for Zibanejad over Panarin. It’s definitely not a case I’d try to make.
I will quote myself for simplicity.

Edit: My initial argument was regarding the center position.

As a Ranger, Panarin has 50 less points than Mika in 200 less games. Its not much of a debate. Also can we move this discussion to the Zibanejad thread?
My initial argument was regarding the center position but I agree, this thread is not the place for this discussion.

Da Big Apple
we have to trim the remaining pro verbal adipose tissues

trade:
Lingren for a pick (respect the dedication but he's cooked as they say)
Schneider for a young roster player (guy cant defend, he's truly a trouba Jr.)
Package Kris Kreider ++ for Brady Kachutk (peak is over guy + doesn't know how to play hockey/who cares if he's Mr. Rongo)

we're stuck with Zibenejed
unless Drury threatens a GM's family to take him

keep:
Jones (keep for now, has next to no value anyway yet moderate upside)
Kakko (he's gonna peak in his late twenties/early 30s)
Laf obviously

Sign Jasper Fasth again

you let Panarin walk in 2 years unless he takes 8M or less.

Go after McDavid at all costs (literally). Win a Cup.

Panarin - McDavis - Lafrèniere
Brady - Zibe - Hytil
Cuylle - Trochek - Kakko
Vesey - Frederic - Fasth
fully/partially no on da bold

But it didn't!
'Tis just your false narrative

I am not impressed. Id make 80% of the team available but the trades have to be legit. No givaways or firesales. Fair value moves.
Mostly yes, rare exception or 2 nothwithstanding.
Zib 1 want gone yesterday.
Don't care if we eat max 50% and get back conditional 7th
Need to make him bend, buckle and break in capitulation response to the shit he has pulled and the aggravation it has put us through
Effective immediately, he sits til he waives

An NHL executive texted me recently to ask, "Chris Kreider for Brad Marchand ... who says no?"

I would hope the Rangers say no.

If we're trading Kreider, it has to be for players and prospects who will help us going forward. A 36-year-old pending UFA doesn't do that.

Miller might have deserved a place in the "shocking" tier, considering his status as a 24-year-old foundational player for the Rangers. He's a restricted free agent after this season making $3.872 million against the cap, and thus in line for a significant raise. Weekes told me that he's heard Miller's name out there as a potential trade acquisition. Where he fits in the Rangers' long-term plans, and how significant the changes are for a team that's underachieved, will determine his path forward in New York.

"I'm not saying they are or they aren't trading him," Weekes said. "I'm just saying it's a name that I've heard out there."

Weekes also heard trade buzz around another foundational player: McTavish, the 21-year-old Ducks center who is in the final season of his rookie contract ahead of restricted free agency. The third overall pick in 2021 has just two goals and eight assists in 20 games for Anaheim, missing a chunk of time due to an upper-body injury.

Miller for McTavish? Anaheim will be dumping Fowler at some point in the near future. Dumoulin is 33 and a pending UFA. Mintyukov and Zellweger are both lefties, but they are both 21. Maybe they'd be interested in Miller, who's a bit older and has more experience.

So a funny/depressing story.

I am in Aruba right now on vacation. Im wearing a rangers tshirt and trying to exit the bathroom. An man with a cane probably in his mid 80s walks up to me and says “we suck this year”

Yup, sums up the team haha
Just pee in the pool . It happens all the time LOL.....Aruba sounds so nice . I was thinking about walking up on a beach this morning . I was also thinking on a new 4x4 as well.....too much thinking I guess .

Yeah, I think that element of the game is there once we move onto a younger group.

This team needs some f***ing talent.

We can't complete consecutive passes and we're still worrying about who will start scrums.
Do they practice passing in Hartford?

How did Anthony Cirelli become so good? 3rd round pick. Decent junior career. Pedestrian AHL career. Now the guy is a Selke finalist nearly every season. The Rangers desperately need a player like Cirelli. Good two-way player.

Bryce McConnell-Barker has the same profile. OHL. AHL. Good two-way player.

The Rangers have to do the opposite of whatever they have been doing.
I like it
