Here's a fun fact regarding Kakko off of pp2.

Kaapo Kakko had more points on the PP his first season here, when he was barely an AHL 3rd liner, than he has had in all his other NYR seasons combined.

In the words of Torts- he sucks on the power play.

I think you may be misreading the data. If he sucks on the PP, how did he get 13 points in his 1st season? Maybe it's because he spent some time on PP1, and averaged 2:14 per game on the PP. Since then, he hasn't averaged more than 1:19 per game.

Here are the PP goals in which he got a point in the 2019-20 season, from last to first:

Kreider from Kakko and Mika
Howden from Lemieux and Kakko
Chytil from Kakko and Fox

If Kakko sucks on the PP, then I guess Laf, Chytil and Cuylle do too, because they don't get significant PP time either.

Those would be some big pluses to the Wings. He's their franchise 1C. Think 1st plus Perreault or 2 1sts + Kakko.

Larkin/Chytil/Trocheck/Carrick down the middle would be really solid though. Larkin on a more skilled team would be so good and he plays the right way.

Other problem is he has a full NTC thru 2027.

You're right on that. It amazes me that Lavi's only solution is to change PP2. Unless he's planning to start PP2 and give them the majority of the time, nothing is going to change.
