Roster Building Thread: Part XIV (To trade or not to trade is the question)

very outside chance Mika adds Nash, a music city, to his narrow set of possibles
Mika + small sweetener for Skjei
Skjei = long term prob but just deal with Zib removal NOW
He doesn't have any teams on his "possibilities", you are just projecting to make fantasy trades. It was reported He was asked to waive and said no. End of story.

Berard is too good to play on the 4th line. If he’s playing it’s in place of Smith or Kakko.

The guy id like to see replace Vesey eventually is Chmelar but that’s a later in the season/next season thing.
Vesey is too stylistically creative for a good fourth line. Too many pretty plays. He should be the plug-in when there is a top 9 issue but his game doesn’t fit well with Carrick and Edstrom.

Not high on my problems list for this team though, I’ll be honest

These morons are playing tonight against the Blackhawks they better win
What should of been a season of making adjustments to contend with Florida in the playoffs... has become a season where we hold on to see if we can beat the worst teams in the league.

There is no leadership in this group. And the hasn't been a coaching team yet that can get this current squad's mind on the work at hand.

Anti Berard now?

An unsatisfying 3-2 win against the B Hawks to save Laviosaurus’s job , just what the doctor ordered

If the coaching staff can't taylor a style that suits this team instead of forcing their own style on a team incapable of performing it then they need to go. Think of the teams that Tortorella had, he didn't ask Girardi or Staal to go chasing players around in their own end because they weren't able to, he let the play come to them. If this staff can't figure out that this system doesn't work because the players either aren't quick enough or fast enough to make it work then they need to go. The number one job for the staff is to make a system that plays on the collective strength of the players on the roster. You can't tell guys like Trouba, Fox, Lindgren and Miller to chase faster players around their own end, it ends in disaster. Anyone with eyes can tell this isn't working, so adjust and imo go to a zone d, it's not rocket science, our pk is great because we are playing that way, and we aren't chasing.
I'd rather get players tailored to the coach.

This would make 2 HCs that can't get these guys to play a structured game consistently.

It's NOT THE COACH clearly

Do you think the coach has done a good job?

If Drury hadn’t pissed off the entire NHLPA by trading Tuba for this moron would still be playing him 22 minutes a night

Berard is fine for the 4th line. He's very not ready defensively and their style should simplify things for him.

All about getting him 4th line minutes before the holidays for that NHL paycheck over letting him play 22 mins in HFD for $9/hr and a pack of gummi worms. I care about our players.

Putting him with Meeka and Krapder is just papering over their apathy and putting miles on what is probably too small a body to play that style for 12-14 years.
