Having a deal in place with your buddy who's the GM of a team on a player’s no trade list is shady. And lazy. And reeks of spoiled brat syndrome. This doesn’t give players the right to quit on their team (there’s really no proof they have) though. Maybe Goodrow was a bigger part of the room than people want to admit. Maybe Chris shouldn’t give a goalie with a sub .9 save percentage the highest contract in the history of goalies too.

What "deal" was in place? A bad team claiming an NHL player? If Utah claimed Goodrow would this still be "shady"?

The kids will come out of this at the other side stronger. Let them experience this shit as a lesson learned for later in their primes.
Kids? Which ones? I count one and a half. Half a Laff and Cuyle. The rest are completely useless. Maybe Berard is one. Miller is washed, Kakko can’t score, and Chytil can stay healthy.

Looks like they went out for the night in Nashville. The one time I was there was 2018, I think the rumor was JT Miller was out most of the night, probably other players were too.

The question is, did anyone hit the board or were they throwing darts at pictures of Drury?

Was just about to send this. Slightly concerned Kreider and Mika, the chief culprits of the gutless hockey weve been seeing, are hanging with our impressionable young players.

At least when they win a 3-1 tonight with 2 PP goals and getting their skulls caved in 5v5 against an 8 win team, they can feel accomplished.

Oh as much as i cant stand Drury, i am fully in his corner for this one.

Kreider needs to go ASAP as the leader of the country club and fake leadership association.

and if he starts bitching about his back to worsen his trade value i simply put him on LTIR and let him stew. f*** him.

Then i get rid of lindgren.

Finally j talk with Zibs about where he would accept a trade to. I eat 50% of the contract to facilitate and get something in return.

Then i talk panarin and see if he wants to stay and or not and give him his request.

Finally i talk to trochek and see if he wants to stay and lead this team, or go pursue a cup. I grant him his wish.

Miller gets traded in offseason to complete.
Its funny to me that in all of this Trochek is the one people cling on to.

What have he done to separate himself from the other vets? He has better players on his line and yet trails washed up vegan crybaby Zibanejad.

What gives?

Please elaborate on how waiving an NHL player that does not have a NMC is not standard GM fare. If he waived Nemeth instead of attaching two 2nds, is that now some underhanded shady move?
He had a trade with San Jose, they were on Goodrow's list, so he waived Goodrow knowing that San Jose would claim him.

It's legal, but I would be unhappy if it happened to me or a teammate without that scenario at least being presented.

So if the reports are that players were unhappy about that, my reaction is "yeah, of course." I wouldn't call it outrage, and I don't think any of this is the primary issue. It's all red meat for the media to drive clicks, and red meat for those people who want some spooky narrative about why the team sucks that's not "the team sucks."

The reasons they suck have been outlined to the point of insanity. I felt we were finally getting somewhere with that idea and then came another spook from the media.

you don’t think Drury and Greer spoke before all this happened and it just so happen to work out that way?

They were aiming for the board but Zibanejad missed by 8 feet and took out the hostess

So Grier is gonna help old buddy Chris out at his team's expense. Ok.

Fox and Lindgren merged as one in the pic. Kakko way in the back and on the periphery of the party. At least Cuylle was somewhat next to him.

There's a reason Friedman said a lot of players have been alerted by the Goodrow and Trouba moves around the league, and are possibly looking to alter the CBA regarding these clauses when the negotiations get going. It was not "business as usual" done by Drury, and I have no doubt that players around the league feel that was a bit shady.

But like I said, it should be totally irrelevant in this discussion. If the players lose their motivation to play for the Rangers because they dislike the GM, then said players need to go. The whole lot of them, if it is every player in that room.
I don't get it. Why is a GM waiving a guy who is massively under performing his contract NOT "business as usual"? Why is trading a guy, and even working with him and his agent on his preferred destination, shady? And I have no problem with Drury having given Trouba the heads up that if a trade couldn't be worked out he would be waived. I see it as a favor not a threat. "The team can't afford your contract for 3rd pair level play. You ARE being moved, if I have to waive you I will. I'd rather sens you somewhere you don't hate, and get something in return." I see nothing at ALL wrong in either scenario. Contracts work both ways. TWO parties enter into an agreement, not just the team. Both of them could have given up salary for more NMC protection. I'm sure Igor just did that. They want to have their cake and eat it too.

Of course they spoke.

Should Drury not have pulled the trigger?
San Jose took his contract without any assets back. That’s not a trade. That’s a waiver claim.
Sjs was 1st on the waiver claim order.
We don’t know if anyone else would’ve claimed him.
There could’ve been 6 teams. It’s not Drurys responsibility to make sure Goodrow goes where he wants once he puts him on waivers.

Goodrow had a 15 team ntc.
He was likely expecting to be bought out and double dipping on money.

I'm sure Drury and Grier did speak. I think it's highly probable than San Jose was the only team willing to take Goodrow's entire contract w/o retention.

If Drury could have worked out a trade with a team not on Goodrow's list, don't you think he would have?

Should Drury attach the 2035 2nd round pick to send him to Montreal so Goodrow is happy?

Such as? Giving him a phone call to say "Hey Goody I'm waiving you"? That's somehow a black mark against Drury and not players who are "quitting" on their teammates, the organization, and the paying customers because of a standard hockey transaction?
I dont know what more to tell you. Did you miss the Friedman report stating players around the league took notice of how Drury treated Goodie? To the point that they now want to discuss it during the next CBA session.

What deal? What considerations did NYR get from SJS?
