It's funny that these player's hate Drury so much. I totally believe that Drury is ruthless d-bag that doesnt care about the player's feelings. But I also think that's why he was hired by Dolan. The country club is not a recent occurrence at MSG. Lest we forget the Rangers axed Davidson, Gorton, Quinn and Buchnevich after the Wilson incident when the Rangers couldnt or wouldnt be bothered to defend their star players. It was an issue with the Knicks for years too, until they hired another ruthless executive named Leon Rose.

Rose used his connections to add Brunson when people thought it was crazy. Big win. Rose traded 2 homegrown fan favorites in RJ and Quickly for a massive upgrade mid-season in OG. Rose was at Julius Randle's charity event THE DAY BEFORE he shipped him out for KAT. Divincenzo was so pissed by the trade he tried to fight Rick Brunson during a preseason game this year lol. It's all worked out amazingly for the Knicks. They are a legit contender for the first time since the 90s.

Drury has not been ruthless enough imo, and has to go much further with remaking this team. They have on paper needs, but they also need a heart transplant. The only thing firing Drury now does is embolden continued player apathy and its naive and juvenile to not see that.

Firing Laviolette? That's a different story. He's not helping his cause with the mixed messaging with the benching's and scratches. But unless you're hiring Coach Q, who on paper is a fit for team needing a large kick in the ass and a commitment to defense, what's the point. Drury might as well resign if he's going to let Michael Peca or someone like Jay Woodcroft steer the ship through the storm.
Being Ruthless is fine. Vegas and (to a lesser extent) Florida were ruthless in making the moves they needed to make to win a cup.

I don’t think Drury is ruthless. He’s just a prick. And he makes dumbass moves , unlike VGK and FLA

Drury's pretty obviously a massive douchebag, in a way that goes beyond just the Goodrow/Trouba situations and the resting douche face he routinely sports. I don't see anything remotely special in him that would make me choose him over the players. If the players don't want to play with him around, show him the door. I agree that the players haven't earned the right to fire another coach, but a dime-a-dozen douchey GM? Absolutely.

What have the players done? They quit on your team. Drury is at least trying to improve the roster but has been kneecapped at every turn. If you want to fire him because he gave Zibanejad that contract, fine. But do it after the season. Nothing is changing now.

Not ruthless enough. Not yet at least. Time to go in without anesthesia and send Kreider packing.

The continued obsession with the DeAngelo/Georgiev incident is nonsensical considering TDA came out and took accountability for the whole ordeal this summer. Thinking that a group of professional athletes are tanking the season to spite the GM over something that happened to their dear precious close friend three years ago under a prior management group is bizarre fantasizing.
You know, as I sit here reading this nonsense, I can't help but wonder why the 70s Rangers didn't revolt when Francis traded Ratelle and Park and, to top that off, brought in arch enemies Esposito, Hodge and Vadnais!!! They certainly would have been justified. But they did something so unnatural: they put their feelings aside, went on the ice and played/acted like professionals. What a novel concept that was!!!!

Trading Kakko for Greenway, a player you can find in free agency every year, is lunacy.
That would be a Drury type of move and a Sammy Blais type of return

If anything he should offer Kakko for Krebs. Center depth and the same issues as Kakko with ice time and being a high pick and hasn't planned out. Krebs brings some physical game and is a pest at times.

If you guys think Dolan will side with Drury over the possibility of playoff revenue I have a bridge to sell you.

MARK MESSIER !!!!

I mean, I've been trying to warn people that its the most probable outcome. I expect he will give his thoughts on the matter to ESPN Radio this week.

So Dolan's meddling would be a good thing in this case? I'm trying to follow the bouncing ball here.

FIRE. DRURY.

FIRE. DRURY. How many times does this need to be said?

But first, FIRE DRURY
Absolutely not. Firing Drury only furthers to codify this environment of entitlement that has made this current team a large group of spoiled brats.

I'm no Drury fan, but I'd rather burn it down and trade 75% of the team before I fire him.

It’s not the most probable outcome.

I’d bet on Brian Burke and I don’t think that a whole lot better. Messier has never seriously be considered for any opening since the coaching job way back when.

Yeah I mean Burke is the same type of dinosaur. Dolan would probably hire both. I think Drury is very safe though tbh. I think he's 3rd on the blame list behind the veteran core and laviolette.

I don't know if it's supposed to be a good or a bad thing, just the idea that Dolan might push to win a couple of rounds if he thinks they can do that.

The team would be better served to keep losing.

I just dont see how replacing a GM in season does that. The coach, maybe. But I dont think the players are going to magically start playing better. Trades need to happen no matter who is in charge.

If there's even a scintilla of truth to that Dangle report then I cannot, in my 40+ years of watching sports , think of a more unlikable team than this bunch of entitled douchebags.
I can forgive a lot of things.

But shitting on the jersey intentionally, is forever unforgivable.

The have all but said it out loud. Whether we like it or not the players want Drury gone and I am certain that they will start playing more to the standard we expect from them once he is gone.

Why not though? The word gets around the league, and different people have connections.

I can make one easy connection for you: Alan Walsh has a podcast with their network. Alan Walsh is co-managing director of Octagon hockey. There are two active roster players with the Rangers (and a few more in the AHL) with representation done by Octagon: Lindgren and Kakko.

So there's a possible source already.

Why are you certain of that? I can't see why any fan would even want to root for a group of players who let their personal feelings for their boss get in the way of playing with effort. Drury hasnt done a single thing against the players, aside from removing underperforming players with albatross contracts. Something every fan asked for. And Im supposed to want him fired? I dont really get the logic.

Kakko is 23 years old and +10 while putting up good points and advanced stats while playing third line minutes again with no PP time. why are we trading him? That would be the dumbest move since trading buchnevich.

That’s nice but he’s getting traded

You highlighted why he would want to go . He just got scratched he’s not getting more minutes here and currently has value still
