Im a Kakko guy and didnt want him moved, but if he was the piece stopping the Guentzal deal from happening Chris shouldve pulled the trigger because they wound up sitting him in the playoffs again anyway.
Last season was the time to push the chips into the middle of the table and instead Drury went bargain shopping for Jack Roslovic. Probably because he messed with the chemistry too much the year prior moving mountains to bring in Kane.
Throw in the horrendous Buch deal. Some bad signings (Nemeth, Goodrow).
Its obvious Drury hasnt had the correct foresight for this club, especially when it really matters. Its been more bad than good and if you ask me he should be the one out the door before major moves and extensions are made and the coach is replaced.
Its a very critical time right now
Yup, last season was the time to go all in. The playoffs are tough and you need to give your team the best chance to succeed and Jack Roslovic is not THAT guy. This team needs a Tkachuk or Sam Bennett type of player in their Top 6. They need a player who is tough and who has skill.
I don’t think Kakko was the holdup in a Guentzel deal; I think Pittsburgh probably wanted Perrault and the Rangers dangled Othmann instead. I don’t think the Penguins were interested in Kakko.
NO
peeps gotta learn that win now = epic fail does not work
At 26 years old, Adam Fox is by far one of the youngest D on this list and seeing a regular shift in the league, let alone on a top pair, and he’s only getting slower and less physical. Trouba on here as well, with Kakko on the forwards list in all 3 categories.

So he’s going to continue to lose speed and agility as he ages and he is already listed amongst McNabb, Martinez, Suter, Schenn, Cole, Savard, Hamonic, Brodie, etc. who are regarded as good largely because of what they accomplished earlier in their careers, before slowing down. He also is one of the smallest guys to be that slow, especially at a young age. Most of the guys I just mentioned are pretty large and play a physical game. Fox is a great player, but - if I were a betting man - we’ve already seen his peak. Is it a problem? No. Is it great that we’ve probably already wasted the peak of both Fox (turning 27) and Shesty (turning 29) and are now looking to rebuild/retool with them as potential centerpieces? Probably not.
agree w/da bold
need to be ahead of Fox before he gets clauses that kick in
He is likely only way we move zib to VAN
The more I think about it, I think the way to make a meaningful trade would rely on our willingness to trade Schneider. I read a couple of days ago that we would have had JT Miller last year if we were willing to include Schneider.
I could see Dallas taking Kreider and Schneider for Bourque, Bischel, Dadonov and a draft pick.
Laf, Schneider, and Berard to the Senators for Brady and Kelvin.
Vancouver and others would also be enticed by a good physical RD. Granted it would create another hole for us, but it could lead to another trade or two where we could fill two or three holes.
No, this would be a huge mistake
unless return is crazy good, Schneid is off
If Van wants Scheid for price of Zib out + JTM to ny, answer is no
make them take retained zib, only costs us $$$
I read someone said Z was offered for Miller? So some smoke there? I mean, same age, both seem uncomfortable in their current situations, same contract.
Van laughs at that 1:1.
a) Fox + Zib max retained
for
JT + useful pieces + picks
we keep Schneider
that's the ticket
hard No on JT Miller. he's turned into a fantastic player but he does nothing to actually help this team. he's a locker room cancer and he's had a problem with every coach he's ever played for. on top of all that, this team cant be trading picks and prospects for more 30+ year old players right now. maybe only if Vancouver would actually agree to do a 1-for-1 swap with Zibanejad but I highly doubt it.
zib is bigger prob right now
if jt wants out, we can accommodate + flip to any of 3 preferred relocations and get value back
zib is presently negative value bupkis
jt is issues pivot scoring like pt a game
= not the same thig
Kakko and Schneider for JT Miller?
That would be a terrible trade.
If KK was to go it needs to be for a young, good d-man, or as part of a package for a center who is younger and has less question marks than Miller (who I am a fan of)
NO trading KK [barring crazy good offer]
Could Byram be had in Buffalo?
Buffalo has Dahlin, Samuelsson and Power locked up on the left side for years to come and he is going to command 6-7m + on his next deal. They need a shake up and to bring in another young forward. If Kakko's name is being floated out there, that's a piece I'd like to move him for (with an add obviously).
do not want Byram
concussion history
Power is an acceptable risk
and Dahlin is the big get there
but I don't believe we are a match currency wise
