I agree to some extent but the term might also be an issue and more than that the teams willing to take him will more than likely be the same teams that are less desirable. Would take a “perfect fit” scenario, and that’s before even talking about assets coming back and how they fit the rangers org, etc. Definitely possible, but that’s a difficult trade to make.

I remember Brian Burke speaking about it a few years ago. Basically how hard it was to make a trade work for the financial aspects of it. He said lots of deals fall through not due to the player but for the cap portion.

The roster needs to change for sure but firing Lav would be a huge win

It'd need to be a quality for quality trade, but KK is one of the pieces we have that may actually return a decent D-man that we are desperate for. So while i doubt the Rangers want to get ride of him based on his improved play, they might think they need to bite the bullet as we can cover a lost winger easier and we really need that defensive overhaul.

Somehow, we need to turn our junk, and a good piece or 2 into multiple d-men, and some centers both for immediate help and prospects with upside. Not a fun or easy task

His second full season has not been as good as his first....however, the drop off isn't as considerable as I was led to believe:

After recent events, anything we do will only fall into the "doing something just to do something" category....thanks to that damn league memo, you would be lucky to get 2 cents on a dollar for anyone....any offers we receive will be way below normal market value -- some probably downright insulting. He's the undisputed best goalie in the NHL, he is worth way more than Gulyayev (who though I'm a big fan of, he hasn't been producing any more this year than last year). I could see Nikishin, though he's having a down year as well; I would want Svechnikov coming back instead.

That would be one of the dumbest thing drury can do

The Kakko thing is from other GMs trying to get him, not Drury shopping him. It’s the same thing with Byram and the Sabres. Of course other teams are gonna want the good, young player.

They’re in a tough spot being locked in to some of these contracts, and Gorton’s efforts to bridge a mini rebuild with big signings/trades hasn’t worked. The young guys are still hitting dips in their learning curves, and the vets are aging out of their usefulness. The main thing that Drury needs to do is keep the cap sheet clean and not lock himself in to bad value deals.

I’m skeptical that anything will come of this whole hullabaloo, so let’s hope they find a way to unify and work through it. That being said, I did say that I set the o/u at 1.5 years for Drury being fired after the Laviolette hire, and I’m kind of liking my prediction there

Both Eichel and McDavid are UFAs in the summer of 26. Coincidentally, Panarin is a UFA the same year, and with the cap rising significantly over the next 2 years, we will have plenty of money.

Signing one of them would help significantly. The problem will be Mika. We'll have to get creative to move him.

The further this drags along the more I'm apt to packaging Igor to some team that wants to pay him. I like the guy and he's a great goalie (especially in the playoffs) but the 8 x 11 rejection has rubbed me wrong way from the get go. I get his position, but I also think the Rangers put their best foot forward in making him the highest paid goalie in the league, nay, of all time and should leave that offer on the table.

If something comes along where you can trade him for a good, not great, NHL goalie plus a young asset then I'm all over that. Hasek in his prime couldn't cover up for the atrociousness that has been the Rangers 5v5 play for the last year+.

I think it has rubbed a lot of the locker room the wrong way too
