Even inside top-10 is pretty rare.
yup. We have 2 small PMD's, which is what most teams have.

Big PMD even ones who are barely over 6, are rare. If you have good forwards you don't necessarily "need" a big PMD, and we shouldn't need more than 1-2, which we have with Fox, and Jones, and Miller can play that role occassionally (although hes more of a stay at home defenseman who occassionally rushes)

D is getting blasted with regularity on here. They havent been good. But the forward group i don't think has helped them either.

Last game vs Ott the forwards coughed the put up a combined 17 times. That's too much.
In addition to that the NYR defense blocked a total of 17 shots. 4 Seperate dman had 4 blocks on the night. Trouba, Schneider, Miller and Lindgren all had 4 BS.

If Fish bowl guy wasn't ready, maybe don't play Fish bowl guy. Sure, we played an easier schedule out the gate, but this has been really tough to watch on the back end, and Fish bowl guy can't take a hike soon enough.

Miller is a puck carrier. His offense comes from rushing the puck. He isn't a great passer.
He can't even successfully do that anymore. It seems like he either lost some speed, doesn't have interest in skating, or turns it over trying to skate up the wall.

People are focusing too much on the bad D and not enough on the bad O. Sub -20 SOG against Washington and Ottawa to go along with plus-40 shots against .

I could live with giving up a lot of chances if we were also generating a lot of chances (like at the start of the season pre-Lindgren)
Everything is a mess at the moment.

Exactly like he helps the transition and offense with his puck rushing but usually when I think puck mover I’m thinking a guy who’s made a pass in his career and is comfortable at the point like fox, Gus, jones

Why is this game not scheduled for some time during the stinky 4 o clock NFL game window

We usually get 5 PM on Sundays which is great, shoved in before the 8 PM game. This is just stupid. The NHL operating as if the NFL doesn't exist.

I agree. If you are going to rank our D in terms of ability to make a good breakout pass, Miller is behind Fox, Jones, Schneider, and maybe even Mancini (albeit in limited time).

Schneider really improved his passing towards the end of last season, which is one reason why I thought he worked well with Trouba.

Kind of wondering if you could trade ZIbanejad to Nashville. They are firmly in win-now. They are desperate for a center upgrade; They have some expiring/short term contracts. No state income tax so Zibanejad gets a raise if he goes there. Probably not, but maybe you can get him traded if there is a monetary incentive. Neither of the Florida teams are doing it. Dallas isn't doing it. Vegas, maybe next year if they want to hedge against Eichel leaving. So Nashville or Seattle? Maybe?

he has always showed flashes - he’ll come crashing back to the mean
Of course he will. That doesn’t change that’s he’s scored twice as many goals with them (in half the games) than he did with us. Even if it’s not sustainable that’s still a huge difference

Our defense sucks. Most of you say that daily. Yet we have the best GA/G in the league.

So:

1. How bad does everyone else's defense suck, or
2. It's all our goalie. Who many of the same people say we shouldn't sign.

So, is the answer to get a lesser goalie and trade for some of the defenders on other teams that give up more goals?

Roslovic was the king of “almost”. He’d make a good move, and then almost score, or he’d almost strip the puck. Or he’d almost make a great pass.

All of his tools are 3/5 but and he’s a legit hockey player, but his game is skill and flash and he doesn’t have the tools to do it without some serious luck.

It’s a bit of both and another factor.

Goals are up significantly league wide.

Igor is playing very good right now. Except for a few games, we’ve done a good job at keeping shots from being true high danger chances.

But Igor is saving a lot more than expected.
This game v the islanders tho was just more outside shots that looked more dangerous than they really were.

You know there has been a point made that if we save money on the goalie who are we bringing in that will make the team so good that they won't need to rely on the goalies? Who on this roster is even a Drury guy? Reilly Smith and Trocheck? I'm not sure I trust Drury to reallocate the savings properly.
