I want what I want
Chara wasn't good until he was like 24 or 25.
Yep, and if you go look up the reviews of his first couple of years in the league as an Islander, they'll read similar to Rempe in that he was a HORRIBLE skater. Looked like bambi on ice, turns like a mac truck, etc. etc.

This is not to say that Rempe can be like Chara or anybody else. Rather it's to say 1) Other big players have had the same issues as him at his age and significant improvement is not unheard of. 2) His learning/improving should be done below the NHL level to maximize any potential that there may be.

Honestly, having him up with the Rangers, playing 4 minutes, every other game, is just as much a disservice to him as it is to the Rangers.

this place is unbearable right now between strictly rempe zib and lindgren talk
I mean all off season it was “jettison Kakko and Trouba “

Trouba currently has looked solid and Kakko is currently our 2nd best rw and hot take:( the separation between him and Laf isn’t that far)

If nyr keeps messing around w the Igor contract then he's going to be looking pretty good in Chicago next season. He would probably drag that tire fire into the playoffs...

Is anyone else getting 2015-2016 vibes with this team?

"The Rangers are 7-2-1, but this is reminiscent of 2015-16, when Henrik Lundqvist’s uncommon brilliance out of the gate led the club to a 16-3-2 start before the team settled into a long stretch of mediocrity that ultimately ended with a first-round, five-game rout by Pittsburgh."

No, was that team able to score at this rate?

No this team is objectively better. Let’s not act like they aren’t stomping teams
Pre Lindgren.

He’s responsible for at least half of their issues right now.

Brian Boyle didn't debut in the NHL until he was older than Rempe is right now.

Boyle was also a 1st Round Pick and Rempe is a 6th Round dart throw.

The two guys don't even play remotely similar games. I don't understand the comparison.
Yeah I don’t get the comparisons at all. Boyle carved out a nice career for himself but didn’t come close to living up to expectations. Rempe is quite the opposite. Boyle had great feet and was agile but was slow as molasses, Rempe would burn him in a straight line. Give Rempe time, man. Boyle was way more skilled and didn’t play a full NHL season until he was 25. Rempe is 22

Yeah the teams biggest issue is the same as it was last year, a top 4 lhd who can either pair with Fox or anchor the second unit. That’s supposed to be Lindgren’s role, but he's just not that type of player, at least at this point, if ever. Figuring out a way to upgrade that spot would solidify the D.

Package Lindgren with Othmann and a 1st for someone who can play that role and fit in the cap for at least the next couple years. There was a thread on the main board around getting Walman from the Sharks. That package would probably be a major overpay for him, but he’s the lower end of the type of player to slot in on the second pair.

Miller-Fox
Walman-Schneider
Jones-Trouba

3 solid pairings that can move the puck. Mancini can replace Trouba after this year.

ive been thinking about the bottom of the lineup. maybe it's just fresh in the mind after playoffs but 4th line always seems to play an outsized role.

we didn't sign carrick for october. we signed him for april and may.

edstrom is a guy i get more and more excited about. his little plays are always helping in subtle ways. he can be real heavy when he wants to be.

that last 4th line spot is somewhere i see the opportunity to upgrade. we'll see how Vesey looks.

that was my thread. the thing about Walman is that you're getting 2 playoff runs out of him at a reasonable cap number - one i think we can fit.

It should be noted that we've scored 8 goals in the last 4 games.

It should also be noted that our first 6 games, where we scored 31 goals, were against mediocre at best teams.

I wouldn't hold up either of those as a trend just yet.

They were producing and generating chances at a high clip, like even higher than you'd expect given the competition.

The problem with the last few games is that they're producing fewer chances while giving up more. This basically happened the second Lindgren was re inserted into the top 4.

The Florida game wasn't good by any stretch (it wasn't as bad as some people here made it out to be either) but it was a god damn masterpiece in comparison to the last 2 games.

Not to pin it all on Lindgren, but he's a big part of the reason why. You can't have a guy eating top 4 minutes who nukes everything.

I also get that Mancini has shown some flashes of awesome shit, but he's been Lindgren esque too. I'm fine with giving him a bit more runway to try to work some of it out (he's essentially doing a NCAA to NHL Jump as hes he barely played in the A and thats a lot to ask of anyone) but that rope shouldn't be much longer. Time in the A and a call up later in the season may (and probably is) the best path forward for him. I don't know why Lavi decided to break up Schneider-Trouba which was working well enough. We've gone from being able to play above water for most of the game to playing under water for more than half of it just with that decision alone.
