So let me get this straight. Everyone here has been screaming about splitting up the twins for years, and now that it’s finally happened we’re still complaining? You can’t split those two up without nuking the rest of the lineup unless the expectation was to put one of the twins on the fourth line.

The D pairs. Yeah. Disaster. But, if they are doing this because the plan is to trade Lindgren and somehow find Fox a legitimate complement in his left, sign me up now.

Do you really believe this? Laviolette clearly loves him like the typical dumb fan.

Looking at these lines and pairs it’s obvious they’re just trying to get Zib and Lindgren “going” by saddling our best players with them. It’s not about balance at all.

Are you suggesting that Cuylle-Tro-Smith are going to get more icetime than Kreider-Chytil-Kakko?
We'll see. The coach is about to play Ryan Lindgren top pair minutes in 2024. Anything is possible. And Smith and especially Tro are quality players and Lav loves his vets.

Laviolettes problem is he has two Top-4 defenseman and four slots to fill.

Every permutation is bad. Losing it over one particular combination of deck chairs on the Titanic is ill advised.

I hate you @EdJovanovski

The thing that bothers me is Schneider-Trouba looked competent as well. Schneider has the skating ability and enough talent to complement Trouba. But instead we get this nonsense.

He just cannot not play Lindgren in the top 4. He either thinks Lindgren is good or values loyalty to vets more than winning.

I need a prescription for the pain watching Lavi trying to think.
One thing to mention, there's been a lot of focus on Zib looking subpar so far this year, but Trocheck is honestly not playing up to last year's level. He's a little off and neither center are playing with much puckhandling confidence. Chytil has by far looked like the most effective center at 5v5 and it's not been close. The team needs more from their centers as the season progresses. We're very wing-dependent between Panarin, Laf, Kreider, Kakko, Smith and Cuylle. Heck even Edstrom's arguably been the most effective 4th liner. Carrick hasn't been terrible. But still, there's a lot to be desired down the middle right now.

That’s fine , name one cup winning team that was built around great center play. I’ll wait…

Yup. Tro was fantastic the previous season but nobody can expect him to keep that up. Zib we know is struggling - he looked good for the first shift or two against the Sens but then deteriorated back to his current default, maybe it's age after all. Still baffles me why there are no C talent coming up in the org.

No issue with giving those forward lines a shot. Might wake ZBad up, and poor Kreider needs a chance to show that he can still beast 5v5 with a better centre.

Lindgren is the bane of our D corp though, and should be shipped out for Future Considerations.

i like the forward lines. they make sense to me. Laf and panarin can drive play from the wings, hopefully mika just takes shots when they come and plays defense.

troch has looked not great, so playing a simpler 3rd line game with cuylle and smith makes sense. That looks like a 3rd line.

miller fox
schneider trouba

should be the top 4. there's no other way aboot it

We had a strong top 4 when Schneider was playing with Trouba. But the shit for brain coach decided to nuke that. I want him fired for this. I really do. He absolutely destroyed our D Corps because he likes try hard bums like Lindgren. The guy cannot play in the top 4 and yet he does because he's great at taking a beating.
