Kreider came from the era of Rangers that allowed Lundqvist to get abused without reaction, so his behavior (or lack thereof) is not surprising.

"Turn the other cheek" AV Rangers. I would like to become the "take a penalty to send a message" Rangers. Other teams walk all over this soft core and we usually get better chances on the PK than our powerplay nowadays

I do find it interesting that there are quite a few teams out there that seem like theyd welcome a shakeup as well. Teams like Boston and Nashville that had expectations but have cratered. Detroit, Ottawa and Buffalo are looking to change it up to find their secret sauce after decade+ rebuilds. maybe a team like CBJ who is looking to fill a leadership void and has executive level guys like JD and Nash who are familiar with the Rangers.
I don't know but Drury is a pretty tight-lipped guy. Seems counterproductive to start leaking this to guys like Freidman. I could see them moving Kreider to a team like Nashville but not Boston though, even though I could see him waiving to go home.

I want no part of Zegras, he can not be the piece that is supposed to shake things up here.
I've been wrong about the Rangers plenty, but I've been here for 14 years in January and I know the tendencies of the people on this board.

The same people complaining about the usual stuff, and also somehow suggesting Zegras, would hate Zegras after one shift.

If Kreider gets moved, it will definitely be one of the franchise's lowest moments. But it's interesting that he is "at the top of the for-sale list." It indicates that the organization has been disillusioned with him for a while. And we don't know if the feeling is mutual, for whatever reasons, as Kreider just does not want to hustle and we know he can step it up at times. It's just a very strange-feeling situation. I think it's more disillusionment than Kreider's age-related regression.

It was really criminal the way those teams' let things slide. We had a little bit of the send a message mentality last year with Rempe, but people didn't like that either. Can't win with everyone, I guess.

Rangers sending 3 rookies and Harvard Jimmy out to answer for their crimes. This shakeup can't come soon enough.
Let the kids have their face time. I don't want more words from the veteran group. They're unhappy, cool. Show it on the ice.

Anyone who reads these boards knows that I am and have been a huge supporter of Matt Rempe going back to October of 2023.
Being that said, I am opposed to his call up at this point.
He has finally leveled off in Hartford after having a tough 5 game start.
He’s getting minutes in all situations and should have continued to enhance his development.
Hope the organization knows what they’re doing.

I don't watch the Anaheim Ducks, but from what I understand Zegras is an all skill no toughness/poor defense kind of player. I wouldn't like him and neither would anyone else.

This all could be Friedman baselessly speculating. That's happened before.
He makes it very clear when he's speculating on his own, and that usually happens on his 32 thoughts blog/podcast. He doesn't go out of his way to tweet this type of stuff, nor does it have 2 other reporters confirm said reports after that.

There is definitely smoke. What can be debated is how much of this is real talk regarding making changes, or just posturing "get your f***ing shit together or we'll make a move".

Isn't a criticism of our forwards that they cheat for offense and fail to backcheck?

And then all of the suggestions are for Zegras and Tkachuk.

Just substanceless vibes.
no, you're just lumping everyone who has a criticism together, entirely without nuance.

Rempe's intentions are really clean and 99% of his time on ice he's there to prove he can play hockey.

Media would like a big dumb goon in Noo Yawk so the rest of the hockey world can have a villain, and a bunch of people have bought into propaganda.

If you watch Rempe he....just plays hockey. And occasionally fights a goon. So much to do about nothing.

Kreider has a limited no-trade clause.....do you imagine Boston is one of the teams on his "do not trade to" list?

I did not say that Rempe was a dirty player. I am not one that believes that he is. Having him on the ice willing to throw hits and fight anybody is still "sending a message".

not even sure what Kreider gets you at this point.
Kreider has 136 goals in his last 261 games. Only 8 players have scored more goals since the start of the 2021-22 season. He's also 4th in the league in playoff goals over that span, with 24 in 43 games.

He'd have considerable value @ 6.5 mil and 1 year remaining.
