The price will be high, according to McKenzie. Arizona is unlikely to trade him. If they do, it won't be for Nash or Grabner. They are going to want a young quality player with term, which are the kind of players we should be holding on to.

I wouldn't think they would move Domi for Nash or Grabner. Hayes or Vesey plus a pick would be a good hockey trade.

Kovalchuk signing would be a Dark Ages move

An older guy that is on the back 9 of his career looking to make some money.

No thanks
I'm not saying Kovalchuk is Jagr, but Jagr did some really great things for a team in transition. They have no wingers anyway, and if he can help Shesty along maybe it makes sense. Term and dollars would obviously have to be right, and maybe Kovalchuk won't want to go to a rebuilding Rangers team, but there are worse ideas.

You do realize that Domi has 3 goals in 54 games this year?
That just means he’s primed for a regression back to the mean. I personally don’t want him, but I’m taking his numbers on an awful Arizona team with a huge grain of salt. I’m not keen on RNH either, unless Chia pays for us to take the contract off his hands.

Is Carey not better than 4 or 5 of that bottom 6?

Doesn’t matter much I really don’t see McLeod or Carey around next year . Pretty sure both are waived or throw in deals

Holland can be sent down ? If not he’s on waivers soon too . Teams often look to clear roster spots right before the deadline

“We’re not saying it’s a tear down, but it could very well be that”

Re: Hayes and Miller: “We’re not getting rid of these guys. It’s not a fire sale.”

Figured I’d add the actual quote to your post.
Thank you. He stated it could end up being that in hindsight if the Rangers consistently get high value offers for their players. It is not a tear down for the sake of it. And it is not something that extends beyond this year. I'm not sure how long Rangerboy wants us to suck for haha

On a short deal that wouldn't really be a "dark ages" move.

They need some vets to insulate and bring along the young guys but I do agree that there are better players to do that than Ilya Kovalchuk.

This is the same "bridge the gap" comments made when the team signed Fleury and the others.

Makes no sense

Makes plenty of sense to bring in Kovalchuk. The team can easily be good next year and he brings another very dangerous right handed shot to the team. They're going to try and rebuild quickly and they can easily do that. They're not gonna sit 15M below the cap so they can play borderline NHL players and borderline prospects to try and lose instead of getting potential top line players.

Miller + Hayes for Draisaitl?

Domi would look good on a line with Andersson, maybe throw Tkachuk on there too - that is a real sandpaper line

He's shooting something like 2.8%. He's playing on a terrible team. Not to mention he's 22. If they could add him in a hockey trade they should do it. Not to be brought in to be the star but would be a good young piece to add for a rebuild.

I'm sure they'll call up Chytil and let him try to replace Nash or Grabner if we're not bottoming out in the standings around the deadline and especially if we don't find the right deal for Zuke or McD. If playoff revenue is in sight they'll make a play for it.

When you have 3 goals in 50+ games your shooting percentage would tend to be low.

He's also been playing out of position most of the year. He's a winger and they have him playing center quite a bit.

I agree that he's better than his draft position, I think that was effected by injury, but I think you are really underratimg Thomas. Thomas was a big riser coming into the draft and has been one of the best, if not the very best, CHL player this season. He plays a very complete game. I think he's right up there with players like Chytil, Tolvanen, Frost as some of the best late first round picks.

Not sure why I commented on him, don’t know who he is, other than hearing his name... ;) I usually don’t do that, sorry! ;)
