I don't think there are too many "untouchable" players on this roster.

Saying someone is "wrong" about X, Y, Z moving can be easily countered by saying we don't know because if someone comes with an offer for Kreider that blows Gorton away do you think he says 'no' at this point?

The team is bad. It may get worse, but the eye isn't on this season OR the next. Kreider is a nice piece but if Gorts gets a haul for him I think he'd move him, along with Hayes and Zucc who I believe are certainly gone.

This concept that this team can't lose 1-2 years in a row for fear of being EDM is patently false and likely goes against what will occur and what the GM has in mind. No matter who moves the true captain (in net) isn't moving so the leadership is there, he's just not wearing a letter.

You started with the “untouchables” thing that I am not arguing and then finished with “everyone is for sale” that’s I disagree with. My point was that Gorton will not leave a barebones team where rookies will have to be put in roles they are not ready for. All of Hayes, Zuke, Zibanejad and Kreider etc will not be moved for picks and non-NHL level prospects. Of course there’s a theoretical possibility that Kreider is traded for Nylander but this would be a roster spot for roster spot of the better caliber right away and highly (enormously) unlikely.

I disagree that Gorton wouldn't do that. I cited Hank as the leadership the team would be left with.

I could see all of them going for the right deals. That won't happen because: other teams... but it's possible.

Gorts wouldn't say no just because he doesn't want that group completely gone.

So we see things differently.

Zack Kassian wants out of Edmonton, any interest? He’d be an upgrade over McClown as the defacto enforcer.

Depends on the deal. If they want a pick or a prospect to clear the cap space? Zero interest. If they wanted a guy like Spooner or Names and were willing to throw in something of value in addition to Kassian? Maybe.

The question with Kassian is if the off-ice issues are resurfacing. If so a place like NY might not be optimal for him.

I’d be shocked if Hayes would be willing to re-sign in Winnipeg which drops his value in that sense

Outside of Vesalainen, Niku and Appleton are probably their two best prospects. They were both very impressive in the AHL last year.

Wouldn’t do Hayes for one straight up though, have to be some pick coming back, which Chevy is stingy about

Almost any team would improve by Hayes acquisition.

I think Tampa Bay makes a lot of sense because they need some size up front.

Hayes + Jensen for Callahan + guaranteed 2019 1st rounder, 2nd rounder, 2020 2nd rounder, 2021 3rd rounder

I don't think they care.

There will be more than one team interested. Let the bidding war begin.

Brendan Lemieux is a guy I’d be interested in from Winnipeg
Lemieux sucks. 1 goal in 25ish games on a deflection and zero assists. Terrible advanced stats to go along with it. Lemieux is a throw in... not a centerpiece. Outside of being claude lemieux's son, he contributes nothing.

Dont bother. Bottom line is William Nylander is soft. That was his main driving argument no matter how he tries to spin it now.
Couldn't help yourself eh? Yes he's soft and as I said in a mostly civil convo with him, I don't think he's a player that drivers a top line.

If you think differently you're welcome to your opinion, but move on already like you said you were going to...

It's been a long time since I can remember a team willing to sell off premium assets so early in the season. Odd confluence of events -- Rangers know they will not be a playoff contender, fans already bracing for the worst this year and the Rangers still have some very good assets to sell. Most teams that know they won't be a playoff contender usually don't have much to sell. Very interesting dynamic emerging here. Stay tuned...

Winnipeg have potential to do something pretty special there. Almost everyone is locked up to great contracts and so forth. Very good drafting.

They should have some traction, but who knows...

I followed Vesalainen a bit in Sweden, and the WJC — really not a big fan. Entitled brat that really wasn’t good. BUT it was awful years for him, he has turned it around since.

Also, I was not a big fan of Rantanen either. Just for disclosure. ;)

Then we can bring up Lias and Libor and others to commence there training in the Big Leagues while moving towards Hughes

We are looking at Something close to this

On the block:
Hayes
Zucc
Names
Spooner
Vesey
McQuaid
Smith
ADA

If the right deal (overpayment) comes along:
Kreider
Zib
Buch
Shatty
Pionk
Skjei

Ballast
Staal

Should be real interesting

Id move Shatty to the block with anything reasonable

Shattenkirk to Buffalo.

The Sabres could have three first round picks this season. Their own pick plus the Sharks(Evander Kane) and Blues(Ryan O'Reilly) picks.

The Sharks pick will go to Buffalo if the Sharks make the playoffs or it becomes a 2020 first if they miss. SJ owes a first to Ottawa in 19 or 20 depending upon which pick goes to Buffalo. San Jose could miss the playoffs and Ottawa gets their 1st this June. SJ has already traded their next two #1's. Does Wilson want Hayes? SJ needs a center. Send the 2021 1st to the Rangers. No conditions. The Sharks will be toast by then and the Rangers get a lottery pick in 2021 when the Rangers start humming again. When SJ acquired Karlsson, Pierre LeBrun reported Wilson wants to acquire a center. The Celtics and Danny Ainge. The Celtics were a playoff team and he had the top pick in the NBA draft in 2017. He flipped picks with Philly at #3 to select Tatum and the Celtics could get another lottery pick from that trade or a 2014 trade with Memphis. Ainge got the #1 pick from the Nets trade.

The Blues pick is top 10 protected in 2019. The Sabres would get their 2020 first.

The Sabres wanted Shattenkirk in 2017. They get him for a cheaper price. Just 2 more seasons remaining and 5 more seasons if they gave him 7 seasons. Buffalo is playing well. They are in the middle of the playoff race in the Atlantic. I know it's still October. Every point counts.

Wilson puts all of his chips in the middle and goes all in by acquiring Hayes. SJ can afford to pay him.

The Rangers will have all of their young guys from the 2017 draft, 2018 trading deadline, 2018 draft, 2019 trading deadline, 2019 draft, etc. In 2021, they get a top pick in the draft.

Boston did it with Ray Bourque.

The Islanders and Pat LaFontaine.

The Devils and Scott Niedermayer.

Those teams traded for future #1's and they ended up being picks at the top of the draft.

Gorton gave it away right before the season when he said the next step in the rebuild is to acquire more future assets at the Q & A fan forum. He didn't say we will see how we play and go from there.
