So I’ve tried to look at the roster in a different way. I’ve broken the current roster in five groups.

Aspiring core (8) – Howden, Chytill, Pionk, Vesey, D’Angelo, Georgiev, Letteri, Buchnevich
Core (6) – Zibanajad, Kreider, Lundqvist, Shattenkirk, Skeji, Fast
Trade Capital (5) – Zuccarello, Hayes, McQuaid, Claesson, Namestnikov
Question Marks (3) – Smith, Spooner, Belesky
Ballast (2) – Staal, McLeod

Aspiring Core
is exactly what is says – players who hopefully should become part of the core for future years. Players in this group could easily move from here to Trade Capital (Vesey, D’Angelo) based on performances this year. Letteri may be a 4A player.

Core
-- Veterans. Some or all could eventually become trade capital but in a best case scenario, these are the pillars that lead us through the rebuild.

Trade Capital
-- Players who clearly are on the move. Hayes is the only bubble player; he could move back to core but I highly doubt it. The others are available now. Operators are standing by.

Question Marks
-- The jury is out here. Can they become core or trade capital (Smith) trade capital (Spooner) or some else’s reclamation project (Belesky)? Or…

Ballast
-- Enough said. Even at 50%, with a NMC Staal is not going anywhere during the season. McLeod, well, you know.

Right now, we have far too many players who are not core or aspiring core. Think back 3-4 years and we had 13-15 core guys at any one time. There’s a lot of work to do here. A lot of work.

Kings have lost six in a row and have scored only 18 goals this season (2nd worst in the league). With their investment into guys like Kovalchuk, Doughty, and Kopitar, I wonder if Rob Blake gets desperate in an attempt to get some scoring. They have a really underrated prospect in Mikey Eyssimont that would be a good snag.

what scoring do we have to offer?

and there's no team better in 'braking streaks' than the Rangers... We'll be sure to break that drought for LA

The last few pages of zucc vs nylander are just ridiculous. Everyone is loving nylander with the whole "almost elite" shiny new toy syndrome even though he's afraid to go into corners at times and can also trend to be a perimeter player.

If an NYR player pulled the kind of shy away crap wn did in the Boston series last year he would be getting destroyed here, but bc our fan base is so frustrated w half our roster and looking for some sort of a possible shining light over the next couple months we are now okay looking past the flaws of sexy players on other teams but at the same time crushing the players on our own roster.

If wn comes here I hope people are prepared for a very talented complimentary top 6 forward. I dont think he is a top 3 forward that will drive your top line. I just hate seeing people crap on our own players bc we actually see the warts in their games, but then people don't objectively view players from other teams bc for the most part fans see highlights, and not so many lowlights...

LA is basically the New York Giants of the NHL, they fooled themselves thinking they are contenders.

His superb play has us 4th from the bottom.

Arizona will pass us in due time. LA should too.

Im waiting for the other shoe to drop with Ottawa. I think Buffalo has legit turned a corner.
Not good enough for Hughes or Kakko, we would probably even miss Cozens and Dach.

I would put Fast and all the question marks guys in the trade capital. Fast is good but it's not like he would be a key player for our next contending team, otherwise we would be an eternal loser.

Nylander is 21 years old...i think we can maybe be understanding about the growing pains of going into corners and not shyinf away from the physical part of the game given his extreme talent level. Just an absurd way to look at the kid. Absurd

If chytil shyed out of corners this board would be killing him, absolutely no question. It's okay for nylander bc he's on another team and his stats look nice, but stats don't account for a player that bails out in the last two minutes of an elimination game that they are losing. Again, it's okay bc he's on another team and we are struggling.

Shiney new toy...

It’s just the classic Zucc troll trying to hang on for dear life to any hope that Zucc isn’t gone by the deadline.

I hope Zucc goes wild with Kreider and Zibanejad. It’ll just make his trade value higher.
As a "zucc troll" I would say i would probably be more interested in him being traded to a contender and therefore actually having a chance to win a cup instead of being on this sinking ship of a rebuilding team. Why?
Dumbest thing I read/hear is is bs that Norwegian hockey fans wants him on NYR come hell or high water. Why would we want that?
#1: I've been a NYR fan since 89 when I saw my first game at MSG. Anyways, I've been wanting another cup since 94, just like the rest of us.
#2: Zucc is our (Norways) biggest hockey export, but he ain't winning here even if he signs another deal (he wont get a 6 year deal) Best for bother parties if he is traded, and im fine with that. I do hope he is traded to a cup winner though, why wouldnt I.

Thing is, and it's getting a bit old, is the constant putrid bs certain posters put out. And we've (as Norwegian NYR fans) have been dealing with it since MZA was signed.
Staying up all night watching every game isn't enough, were just quasi fans just watching zucc, lol
Well f*** you, we'll still be here after he is traded. So suck it

Edit: yep, I'll also watch his new team, if that "against hardcore policy", f*** you :)

I like you man but Zucc would have been gone in February if not for the McDonagh trade developing in the last second

Also the Hayes thing is like, patently false
If you think an organization like the NYR can't handle two thoughts at once...

You need some veterans to show the younger players the ropes. Fast certainly checks that box.

I listed Smith, Spooner and Belesky as question marks because I don’t know if they have any real trade value right now.

Ouch...go get em :DD

I definitely agree with you, Zucc should really leave this awful team to have a chance to win that cup, and one of those rings.

But I happen to know him very well, and I just want what makes him happy, and for some reason he wants to stay here. To be honest, I think it's not so much about the team, even though he bleeds blue. But he loves the city and his condo just a couple of blocks from the Garden.

One thing I do know, if they trade him he won't return as a UFA, then he's done with the Rangers.

Yeah how dare people want to see certain players play for their favorite team. TROLLS!

The thing I really hate about the draft and pick system is that toxic fans will turn on players the second their perceived use to the team is expended, in turn for new picks that will take years to develop.

"We will cheer for you when you score and have relevance, but when the time comes - f*** you, you suck, go away, give us picks".

There are a bunch of teams doing well in the standings that have a ton of cap space. We need to start trading players and call up the likes of Andersson, Meskanen, Beleskey, etc.

Simple

Hayes for 1st + B prospect
Zucc for 1st + B prospect
Spooner for 2nd
Namestnikov for 2nd
DeAngelo for 2nd

Package picks. Move up. Get studs. Get Hughes

2019-2020 Roster

Panarin - Hughes - Kravstov
Kreider - Zibanejad - Podkolzin
Chytil - Howden - Buchnevich
Vesey - Andersson - Fast
Lettieri

Skjei - Karlsson
Smith - Shattenkirk
Hajek - Pionk
Rykov - McQuaid

Hank/Shesty Two-Headed Monster
Hughes + Podkolzin... incredibly ;). I'm not a pessimist, but if we are the last team of all, we will lose the lottery..
Do you really think we have enough money for Panarin and Karlsson? Both of them will want more then $10M for long time..
Panarin in the first line with two absolute unproven beginners?
Andersson is projected top 6 player... Howden is now better than Lias, but I believe next year will be Lias better.

Lundqvist is already frustrated and it's only October.

He is also dealing with an upper body injury. Quinn mentioned that on Tuesday before the game.

Dave Maloney was on the NHL network in July. Jackie Redmond asked Maloney about Lundqvist being on board with the rebuild. Maloney said to check back in December to see to how Lundqvist feels about the rebuild.

Chicago is not even that great of a team. They exposed the Rangers so much last night.

Lundqvist took a few bumps last night.

I think we have looked at it, but their schedule was also relatively easy in the first 10-15 games of the season. It will get harder.

On top of that, the team as a whole has been very healthy.
