I don't see a reason to move Zibanejad unless we get exactly what we're after. For me that'd be a chance at a premium young player. So of Colorado isn't interested in giving up Ottawa's first then I would just assume hang onto him.

Gorton holds all the leverage in a Mika trade until next summer when his trade protection kicks in. Colorado, Dallas, and Winnipeg would likely all be interested and they're all in the same division. Not hard to get a bidding war going on a young, cost controlled righty center who can pop in 10 ppgs a year.

We finally have a legitimate, albeit injury prone, 25 years old number 1 C in a great contract and some of you wanna trade him. Shame on you!

I think Hayes wants to leave, since he was not interested in a long term contract here.

There must be a huge offer if they're going to part with Zucc, bigger than his team value. The way Brady Skjei responded when someone tried to mess with Zucc tells a lot about how valuable he is to the team.

Not sure about Hayes wanting to leave. Seems pretty happy here, yet obviously frustrated at lack of production. Seems like one of the more if not the most popular guy in the room. But...like others past, i fear what the next contract will look like here. Especially considering i sat ten feet in front of Sather at the Town Hall where he himself touched on Hayes and how his next deal will be much better for him. For that reason, i think he is a very tradable asset and one that will garner a pretty good return. Using the Hanzal trade as a potential comparable. Hayes is similar in size, stats, etc. 2 way Center. Hayes though is younger then Hanzal was at the time he was moved. Hanzal got a 1st, 2nd a conditional pick and an AHL Journeyman in exchange for a 4th rounder and a 29 yr old career journeyman who was never more then a 4th liner and never played a full season at the big level.

I think Hayes will get slightly more. Dangle that carrot and get a 1st rounder plus a roster player more suited for the Rangers system #relentless and move on.

The Minnesota Wild acquired center Martin Hanzal from the Arizona Coyotes on Sunday for a first-round pick in the 2017 NHL Draft, a second-round pick in 2018, a conditional pick in 2019 and forward Grayson Downing.
Minnesota will also receive center Ryan White and a fourth-round pick in 2017.
Hanzal is in the final year of a five-year, $15.5 million contract worth an average annual value of $3.1

Agreed, I also think Zibanejad, perhaps more than any other player right now, has his best days ahead of him.

Is Zib a 1C though? Probably on this team, dont know about a contender though. I don't think he's a good enough puck distributor to be put into that ambiguous category. He's be a great 2C in the coming years if the Rangers can get their act together.

This is going to, quite literally, be the same conversation we all had about Stepan. He's a 1c, so is Stepan, but he isn't in the top-15 league-wide. Like you said, on a good team where they have two 1C's he would be the second line center.

Prob be the happiest guy here if Hayes gets traded. When, when Hayes gets traded.

- Hold onto the puck way too long
- Not a very skilled shooter or handler
- Doesn't move that well
- Holds onto the puck way too long
- Terrible on the Power-Play
- He's a solid 3rd line center, we'll have too many better C options next year. Zib, Chytil, LA, Howden is already better, more skilled and faster
- Holds onto the puck way too f***ing long
- Doesn't use his body at all
- Seriously this guy holds onto the puck so long he misses on a million opportunities to make a play,he lets the entire defending team get back into the play and back into position before he does anything.
- He just holds onto the puck way too long.

We can replace his 40pts next year at 2C and 3C if everything goes well. Get the best value and move his ass.

I think he has that potential, to be a top 20 center in the league, the problem is his health. Since he came to the Rangers he has been an elite player when he wasn't coming back from an injury, he was our best player in the playoffs on our last apperance.
He is the only player that should survive this rebuild, he has room to improve, he has a good contract and is only 25. Gorton should get a raise for that trade.

Hayes for OTT 1st + prospect

I want to like Hayes.. I really do.. He does so many things well.. the extreme over passing kills his game and I don't expect that to change. He's not worth $6M with Zib, Chytil, Andersson and Howden

The only way we have a chance at Hughes is if we finish near the bottom and pick top-2.

Is William Nylander undervalued? An analytical look suggests...

Nylander is very underrated. There's a paywall here but the highlights are he gets a ton of points with less than 17 minutes per game and just about 2 min pp time per game. He's right there with Marner at 5v5 peg. Nylander is elite at getting the puck out of his zone and into the offensive zone. 97th percentile at controlled zone entries.

14th highest power play pts per minute. Huge impact on shot differential and expected goals. Numbers controlled for Matthews. It goes on.

I don't give Dubas carte blanche in a trade, but he would immediately be the best player here. Every vet pales in comparison.

I don't mortgage the future, but fortunately the leafs are trying to win now before the cap crunch of next season. Chytil doesn't bring a cup anymore than Nylander sitting at home come December 1. Our goals align.

That being said, we don't really have the pieces Toronto truly needs. We don't even have enough to steal a Hall with a Larson.

I take issue with this dismissal of Nylander (while also somehow commanding some insane price) but I can acknowledge that we lack the cup competition pieces. Dubas is in a bad spot between the deadline, cup window, pressure, and Nylander's price. Someone will get a steal IF a trade happens.

Re: Zibanejad, any debate about moving him is primarily tied to his NMC clause kicking in after this season, with secondary consideration as to whether he can stay healthy.

The debate has never been about talent, or the runs where he demonstrates just how gifted he is.

Feel like the only way we get that close to the bottom/1st overall is by trading Zib and Sjkei along with the usual suspects.
