Sean Walker is good, but not like totally awesome. I think he was fine in Colorado, but he's still like a #4/5

Which is miles better than Trouba/Lindgren for what they cost

But he better not be the best D-man they are after. Like not even close.

In an ideal world: And Walker would be the X next to Schneider

Fox - X
Miller - X
Schneider - X

I do wonder where he would play, maybe with Miller. Don't see him playing with Jones as both are smaller puck movers.

Walker would be the perfect 3rd pairing RD behind Fox and Schneider. Wonder what sort of contract he is looking for.

respectfully, agree to disagree, no
Lindy + 4th = 2 2nds PLUS ALSO CAP SPACE

why do we aim low on a flawed maybe like Fara?

bank the assets, like everybody's mother said, they won't get up and walk away

If we have opportunity for better, great
If Fara is available cheap, min risk, he can be a plan b or c
so given this reality ^

Jones and Walker as a bottom pair would be worthwhile. Then replace Lindgren with a legitimate top 4 D, and pick up a cheap 7D. You can do all of that and still have excess cap to find a top line F as long as you’re willing to make the tough decisions around Lindgren and Trouba.

EDIT - Nevermind, thought Walker still had one year left at $2.65m.

Contending teams don't trade off the roster for beans unless they immediately flip the beans for other roster pieces. Skip the beans part, just get the distressed top 9 forward.

Farabee has 3 more years of control and just had 50 points playing 16 minutes a night. This one's pretty easy if you can do it.

There’s been no actual smoke on Lindgren so it’s gonna be hilarious when the team bends over backwards to move Trouba just to hand his money to Lindgren

Of course we’re trying to move a defenseman. We don’t need someone to confirm that. It’s incredibly obvious.

The actual question is can we get it done?
If we listen to bern, pocket picks + cap space, and not try to force a return, yes.
Perspective peeps, perspect.

We'd like to get out from under Zib w/o cutting our throats
If we recognize Shesty + Zib + gets Nylander ++
THAT is the kind of thing where you emphasize the weight of what is involved.

A guy like Lindy, or Trouba, add a pick, in JT's case retain 1.5, and gt 2 2nds

If the Rangers actually got rid of Lindgren and Trouba, my faith would increase exponentially.

And maybe they still don't win the Cup because it's hard, but I'm more willing to accept "hey, it's hard" if they make an honest effort to put good players at every slot in the lineup.

I see them trying, and that's the keyword, to move on from Trouba. I don't think think there's any traction to Lindgren being a trade piece. From everything I've heard, people think he's not going anywhere and won't sign a budget busting deal.

I'll give him the benefit of the doubt in a really down year for him but I also think the GM/Coach really need to take the reigns and sit him when he's hurt. He's not doing the team any good playing on one leg or with a broken sternum or whatever the case may be.

In any event, he needs to be on the 2nd pair at best.

Miller / Fox
Lindgren / Schneider
Jones / bottom pair UFA

if they're absolutely dying to keep Lindgren....

Jones-Fox (or Miller-Fox)
Miller-Walker
Lindgren-Schneider

the problem is if Jones doesn't work out (i think he will though) then you have to move Lindgren back up to where he doesn't belong. would obviously rather spend that money on someone else.

Lindgren was awful even when he was completely healthy and progressively got worse as the year went on.

Connecting the dots, It actually sounds like the D they end up moving will be Lindgren.

I’m sure they’d love to move Trouba but ultimately they won’t be able to. If someone else goes it’s going to be him.

I bet we get a lot less for Kakko than anybody here expects. Or else, he's a throw in as part of a larger trade and we cope by explaining that he's a major piece.
