I want to believe this is true but as it stands today I dont. I keep mentioning Detroit but that's more of a meme than anything. I brought up Montreal the other day because of the Gorton connect, a couple expensive guys who would be useful for us (Matheson/Anderson), and their need for leadership but Trouba apparently hates Canada.

Just a very difficult deal to make. Id attach assets to but I have to see it to believe.
I don't see Drury and Gorts trading with each other.

your attempt to deflect the quality of my argument by criticizing me for having provided extensive substantiation is a fail

you insist on repeating this ploy but that will not succeed
I don't mind someone else having the last word, but not if there is a mischaracterization

Rempe should have been developed earlier instead of Bonino
This club repeats this mistake favoring vets over youth and we are not kickin it on all cylinders come POs

That said, he was and is a positive force and it was a mistake to underuse him.
The fact we did better with him in the lineup
and were worse w'o him
to the point it heled cost us better chance to win v FL
is proof I am correct and I will not yield

both were mutally exclusive factors

I also refuse to yield.

Someone is getting a traffic ticket

Trouba only has 12M left in salary on his deal while carrying 16M over the two seasons in cap hit. If there is a team that might struggle to hit the floor will take the extra 4M in cap hit for the lesser salary.

I really do wonder if San Jose is on his list. I would think so, but you never know. I'd take back Rutta on his 1 year deal as part of it. Would fill a 3rd pairing role and would be off the books in a year. Allows Schneider to take the 2RD role.

Considering San Jose may have a hard time getting players to commit to being there, getting an 8M cap charge for two seasons helps them get to the floor both years and is up when they are probably starting to pay some of their younger players.

Regardless, there is much more cap space available to teams than the last few years as some deals expired and now we finally have a cap increase. If they are going to make this move, it is this summer. Waiting for next summer is just bad business. It's time to push all in this summer. We won't have Lafreniere or Shesterkin on these kind of a deals after this year and we won't have a better version of most of these players on the roster.

You can have a transition year working through the 25-26 season as Panarin's deal is set to expire.

I highly doubt there is a team that struggles to hit the cap floor that is not on Trouba's NTC. He's certainly not waiving to go to the worst team in the league.

Trouba is definitely tradeable with some retention. There are teams out there that value what he brings with the toughness and leadership things. Retain 2/3 mil and a deal would happen. The real question is if the Rangers want to trade him. One of Lindgren and Trouba needs to be gone and the overall defense upgraded. Lavy is a dinosaur though and loves Trouba so who knows. He somehow saw the need to put the Trouba-Miller 2nd pair back together against Florida. I'm still bitter about that.

I think San Jose is possible. I think Trouba’s prerequisites would be
- in the US
- has good hospitals/job opportunities for his wife
- I think he prefers bigger cities, probably with an art scene as well
- Doesn’t take well to criticism so he may prefer playing in a city that doesn’t have such a microscope on him from the media

He could have a bigger role on SJS, and they have a lot of prospects and the 1OA. Future doesn’t seem too bleak there.

I think Detroit could be a possibility.

Gostisbehere is a UFA and outside of Seider, their defense isn't very good. Holl had the lowest ice time among their defenders, and he still has 2 years left at 3.4 mil. A Trouba for Holl deal would be an upgrade for Detroit.

Ok but I live in reality and what I’m thinking happens is realistic

Maybe Trouba , Goodrow . 1 of goes
Maybe trade Lindgren and Kakko
The rest are likely staying this year
The core is staying
That is yr op + you are entitled to it,
BUT
how aggressive they are about keeping/re-tooling the core remains to be seen
whoev of the core they keep = higher salary vets which works vs cap
Accordingly
they need to decide
value of production of mo expensive vets
v potential of replacements from recovered cap

I would imagine Columbus is on Trouba's no trade list and highly highly doubt Mika would waive to go there

You'd think so but it's not too far from Michigan where both he and his wife are from.

New leadership there might be able to sell him on a vision and... Okay I have no f***ing idea why else he'd be willing to go there. Truth is I expect him to be back and played in a limited role next year.

You just described Nashville

The Rangers could trade:

Trouba for Lauzon + Glass + picks

Kakko, Othmann and a 1st for B. Tkachuk?
Not nearly enough ....they would want Lafreniere + for him and if the money would work.....it would be very tempting . Lafreniere looked great at times in the playoffs whereas Brady brings it every single game on a bad team and he gets his pound of flesh at every chance....and fears no one and has been a proven player since his day 1 of entering the league . He would be the ultimate player for us and a a big time leader .

Laine feels like negative value right now. If we make a Trouba for Laine type of trade, I want them to retain half of his salary and add a draft pick. Even at $4.35M, that cap hit could be an anchor. We are going to need that cap to sign a replacement D for Tuba's spot. +1 not sure if worth the hassle
I'm not saying that we should make that trade. I just found it interesting since they are two guys some fans call untradable (silly). I think Laine may still have more trade value than Trouba based on age plus he is still one of the best shooters with the puck on his stick. Hard to find guys his size with his kind of hands.

Laine is the exact opposite of what the Rangers need.
Was just a thought since both teams fans are so convinced neither can be traded. I would not be shocked to see Laine go somewhere and put up a 40 goal season. The problem is you just do not know how much he will hustle. Now keep in mind that he lost his dad. I know how devastating that can be on a son.

No it wouldn't be and Drury should be fired immediately if he did that.

Trouba for Laine, the trade is 1 for 1. Jacob can't block every team and maybe Davidson and Rick Nash can sell him and his wife on a couple years in Columbus before they take the hometown discount in Detroit.

Maybe Laine can get himself straightened out playing with some respected veterans on a winning team where he isnt being relied on heavily. Still only 26 and the salaries are essentially a wash. If you want to make it a bigger deal and include Kakko there are some other guys on Columbus who could replace him in the bottom 6. Kuraly would be a fit imo. Would open you up to potentially move Goodrow too.
I do not know which team if any would win that trade but it is interesting to think about. Will Laine hustle? Will Trouba bounce back? Really just a roll the dice kind of trade. I like Goody but right now there are few if any untouchables on the Rangers.

The only untouchables on this team should be Igor, Laf, Trocheck, Fox, and maybe Schneider.
