Kane was racking up schmoints when we got him. I haven't done a libero on him this year but I can't imagine he's actually changed his game.
 
With how little cap space we are going to have at the deadline, I think duclair at 50% retained and pat maroon at 50% retained is about all we can hope for. Team DESPERATELY needs a sandpaper type winner like maroon. Im deeply concerned come playoff time how soft this roster is. Theres so little fight. I dont mean chuckin knucks, i mean compete in corners for pucks, crash the net (finally did it last night and resulted in a goal) and general snarl.

I think we can score enough if we add a Maroon to our forward mix and with the return of Kakko and maybe Chytil that we don't need Duclair but a Dman instead as insurance . Sooner or later Lavi will make an attempt to get Kreider to be more physically engaged in his 5 on 5 play . Without that happening we get bounced quickly in the post season . Kreider 's play moving forward is what will determine the Ranger success in the playoffs . That is where we are .

Trading for Maroon because he's a "winner" is the same flawed logic that saddled us with 3.6m a year for Barclay Goodrow.

And Goodrow is better than Maroon.

but if Panarin can elevate his game to 'Kucherov status' in the Playoffs, we should be alright. We just do not have that Alpha mentality from our vets. Trocheck is that guy but there's limits talent wise

Worse thing we can do is mistake a good start to the season as enough to win a cup. This is not a cup winning team unless things are improved on our top lines on both offense and defense. In fact even our good start can disappear later in the regular season. I know Drury doesn't have much to offer but we need a real puck carrier who can easily deliver the mail blue line to blue line if the passing isn't working. Neither Chytil nor Kaako is enough to be a cup winner. We need Drury to pull off a small miracle for us to make that next step.

all the Ottawa games I've watched he's been very noticeable in a good way. I am sure Ottawa will be selling...again.
Not sure if he fits what Laviolette wants? Does he play a good 200 foot game?

Not saying you are wrong, but this is more than a good start. 15 games is a start. We are 37% through the season.
We have weak spots, but which team out there does not? At this point our chances are about as good as anyone’s. Maybe better with our goaltending. We have two that seem perfectly capable of stealing some playoff games or even a series. And getting Chytil and Kakko back will improve those chances.

I would love to know where this myth every year that this team needs TUFFNESS comes from...and when they bring them in,its guys who suck like Reaves,Glass,etc etc.You would think these players skate around with purses draped over their shoulders and run away at the 1st sign of trouble

The regular season is a different game. This isn't a cup team as it is in my opinion. We have some pieces but we need more. Id love to be able to say I see a dominant group. They are playing well. Im proud of them but a good 30 regular season games is not the playoffs. We aren't even that far ahead of teams like the Flyers and Isles in the standings. They aren't cup teams either.

It will never end. If Buch4Blais doesn’t get it through their heads nothing will
