When can we find a RW so Brodzinski doesn’t have to be on this roster anymore. Straight up he is a bum and belongs in the AHL.

Please get us more capable forwards Drury.
Gonna be hard when you have approximately $1.38 of cap space and your only trade worthy assets all have NMCs.

Well that cap space was enough to sign a Veteran RWer who recently signed in Detroit and would not have cost us any trade assets.

But here we are. Hopefully Drury finds a way
What cap space? Kane was not going to be signed until after his operation and he showed that he could play again. We needed to fill out a lineup.....are you saying we should have left ourselves short a player until it was determined Kane could actually play again?

We had the space based on what he signed for. Cap AAV is prorated. They could have sent down Brodzinski’s salary and fit him.

He signed for $2.75 million!!! By the time Kane was ready to sign, we barely had $2.

It is prorated. And I highly doubt he would have cost $2.75 in totality as he wanted to come back. NYR was his preference. Not saying it would’ve been $800k. But it wouldnt have been $2.75.
Kanes salary wouldn’t have been prorated, in fact 2.75 in salary is even more in cap space because the contract is paid out entirely even tho he can’t play in all 82.

Kane isn't likely to make this team a cup winner. Time to put my McDavid trade plan in action and before you laugh be happy I'm not trading for both McDavid and Crosby. :)

Adding a Vatrano/Zucc/Tarasenko type at the deadline seems likely, depending on the market, where we're at competitively closer to the deadline, and how much it will cost us to move Goodrow to a team with cap space that's also not on his NTC list. Smells like at least another 1st.

People jumping ship after a couple of losses is so silly.
What 's more silly is attributing any of the issues on a guy like Brodzinski.
Instead, how about Mika decides to start playing? He and Krieder have been trash. Both of these guys are huge but play small.
Lastly, Igor may be high on his own supply. He has been average, at best, so far. The narrative of him being the top goalie is past its expiration date.

I said for weeks we shouldn't confuse a great start to the season with a great team. That we are not a great team. I didn't need the losses to see that. I don't mind the losses because they show management our weaknesses.

Now time to trade for one of the three Irish guys. McDavid, McKinnon, or McKar :D

The "first" line is still an issue. Mika and Kreider look better SH than ES. It's wild. Kakko wasn't the issue. Brods is not the issue (he's been fine as a warm body in case of injury). I don't think there's a RW acquisition that we can afford cap-wise that will help them. If we had any semblance of a third line, we could afford to just wait it out since both guys have been streaky at 5v5 in their careers.

French Bread Pizza is cooking. No notes.

Our third line is an absolute mess. Bonino is a good soldier, but shouldn't play above the 4th line. Wheeler is a ghost. I wasn't expecting 50+ points, but he was supposed to be one of the biggest bargains of free agency. Like, 30+ points plus leadership and experience. But he's just a corpse out there. Cuylle still looks okay out there and we have two guys coming back from injury at some point that can help. If Wheeler can't find his game, we need just one guy to solidify the top 9. Whatever happens, it's going to be a little rough until 72 and 24 can come back.

Our 4th line has been pretty good at being "non-event." Pitter, Himmy, Bones, and even Goodie have been fine, given their expectations.

All told, we need to upgrade on Wheeler if he can't "just do something. Anything."

Fox hasn't looked quite 100% since coming back, but I don't expect that to last very long. Miller and Trouba have been a little up and down, but again, not worried. It was expected that Gus would come back down to earth a bit, but I'm non-plussed about it. It would be a luxury to have a more defensive 7D than Jones, but I would say "in addition to," not "instead of," Jones.

Goalies are voodoo. Igor's had a rough stretch, but I'm more concerned about the structure in front of him than I am about "him." We're lucky that Quick's had a renaissance under Allaire, but it's not going to last all season. We have one of the best one-two punches in the league, so it is what it is. We ride it out.

We have no cap space but we need one top 9 RW and a 7D. We can wait until the deadline for the 7D, since who knows, there might be an injury at that time which would easily afford us a sub-$1m salary. We can't wait much longer to add a F unless one of the kids comes back sooner than expected. With both of them out, this is hopefully the only real rough stretch of the season.

I'm in on Pinto since there's upside there (not just a rental), a one-year deal to finish out the season would be quite cost-effective, and the cost to acquire him has gone down considerably. The down-side is that he can't help us during this period of injuries. Maybe there's another younger C/W flex forward out there that's fallen out of favor and can step in right away. That's really the only need worth spending capital on.

We need to play a strong game tonight against a tough opponent. A three game slide when we haven't lost two in a row (until now) would be deflating to say the least. If we lose tonight, then I'm giving Otter his cup of coffee. I'm all about delaying that as long as possible and letting him cook in HFD, but if the team needs a jolt I bet he can provide it.

What going on with Trevor Zegras? Might be the perfect opportunity to grab a talented and useful player, think Derick Brassard and how good he was with the Rangers.
