But that takes it back to Vegas being really the only team that seems in the mix. If the deal for Schmidt is in place, what’s the snag? Still not enough cap due to whatever is coming back? Pietrangelo won’t commit? If they won’t trade Schmidt til AP signs, but AP can’t sign until they trade Schmidt then we’re going to be sitting here while they gawk at each other for a long time.
Like an Eastwood movie, or AP goes to Columbus

Remember when everybody was shitting on sakic and saying how he was such a terrible executive because he didn't hurry up and make the duchesne trade and was asking for too much, and he didn't fire his coach during that awful year, now a couple years later look at the squad that he's building.

If they can balance out their depth, they're going to very formidable.

Was just typing this. What a turn around.

And they have Bowen Byram coming.

Haha well yes for sure, but the heat on Sakic was legit. The Av's were historically bad and Roy had just walked out on them.
Every executive is going to have problems and challenges, what defines them is how they handle them. He handled it all perfectly, he certainly come out on top

And if we're being fair, they haven't been able to consistently find talent outside of the first round, particularly the top 12 or so picks, in a long time.

Right now, both Edmonton and Colorado are essentially on the "Yay we didn't f*** up enough of our lottery picks to suck" path to success.

Are we in on Dunn? I feel like he's a good partner for Trouba. I dont know how STL will afford him

I know the odds are low but with Landeskog being a UFA next season could NYR try and get both or one of Girard (Byram & Timmins are waiting) and Jost (Kaut & Bowers could make the team soon)? No idea for what would be but just throwing it out there. I'd prefer Kadri over Jost but doubt they'd move him.
