Koivu has said it's Minnesota or the retirement home, afaik. Don't think he's an option.
Minnesota has apparently told him they’re not making him an offer. So, maybe he hangs ‘em up. But i assume he made that bold prediction when he assumed Minnesota wanted him back. Probably more of a chance he goes elsewhere now.

Maybe Boston goes after Petro if Krug goes and they can't work out something with Chara.

For ADA how about.....keeping him?! They can try him with Trouba this season and see how it works.

They don't HAVE to trade him.

Yeah I think the odds of trading DeAngelo are slim unless there's a legit good offer made.

That is loooooooow
Is it though? He is 30 years old entering free agency when there is going to be a flat cap the next few years. Even if there wasnt going to be a flat cap, he is still 30 years old. Granted he has consistently been a 50 point defenseman who has a solid all around game, he has never really blown the doors off in any season and again is on the wrong side of 30. I think $7.7 AAV is very fair. Max maybe being $8 AAV.

EDIT: disregard if you were referring to STL wanting him to accept the AAV without knowing all the details of the entire contract offer

wanting him to accept the deal without knowing the terms makes me think the blues weren't too serious about getting a deal done...but is that offer low because the blues didn't want to overpay for a 30+ year old given they have depth? or is that lower amount a sign of whats to come for all free agents with the flat cap?

For a guy who was in the Norris conservation that is really low IMO. There are teams that would commit murder for a #1 RD.

That Faulk deal honestly killed their future Cup chances.

If Lou was smart, he wouldn't have signed that many players to that many stupid deals. He acts like an old man more than a good GM now. He makes go for it now moves with no concern for the long term future of the franchise because he's old. I think there is a good chance he loses Barzal to an offer sheet this off-season.

Old people are so crap! Amirite!??

I get the RD point. But he hasn’t been a serious Norris candidate since he was 22 and 24 years old. And even then he finished 4th and 5th in the voting. Fast forward to 6 years later. He is going to be 31 when the 1st season of that contract starts because of Covid. So as a team, and as the player, do you compensate in years or salary? I just dont think he should be getting more than $8 AAV anywhere.

Dunn will resign if Petri signs
Hanifan a target ? Lindholm on D is my preference
Hanifan just sounds like Brady Skjei but slightly better. Pass.

Hampus Lindholm just doesnt fit well due to his age and, more importantly, need for a new contract in which he will want to get paid. It will be his last big contract. Would rather sign a UFA vet on a short term deal with no clauses, that you can expose to Seattle. And then revisit the LD again next offseason.

That may be the smart move w expansion

So Pietrangelo is hitting the open market. Dumba is out there. Barrie is a FA. Now the Devils are rumored to be making Severson available. DeAngelo is the 2nd or 3rd best option there but the market is getting kind of saturated.

This is assuming DeAngelo is on the market as well. I'm not so sure
