Honestly I’m in sell mode still. I’m scared to spend anymore money with what we have coming We have Alot of talent here already and coming. Mika Panarin Chytil Lafreniere Kakko Kravtsov Kreider Barron and yes Howden. We’ve got to be careful with future cap space.

Strome Buchnevich Fast Should go for futures and maybe even DeAngelo if you get me a LD back should go to at this point although we can wait On that for a perfect option as I’ve said, if of course we refuse to play him on the left side.

I think Chytil and Howden take big steps this year. Paying anyone big money to slot behind mika will bite us. We’re similar to Tampa in that regard with point and cirelli taking those steps. We are stacked at wing and with Kravtsov showing he’s taking a major leap we need roster spots. I would trade Buchy now maybe you get a first for him like J.T. Miller got . Strome for a 2nd rounder. Maybe you can bundle some picks to move up for a center you like. I just don’t want to spend money on a veteran center at this time.

I'm with you 100%. I don't really want to trade the assets or use the cap space on a center at all. That's a "force it" move, and like you, I'm big on Chytil. I think he was snake bitten a bit last year and he easily could have had more production based on what I saw from him on the ice. He's very confident with the puck. You wait another year to see if 2C even needs to be addressed.

Also agreed that I'd only trade DeAngelo for a similarly valued LD. It makes sense from a roster construction and expansion draft standpoint. I'm against a futures deal for him. That's too big of a hole to create without improving the roster elsewhere at a position of need.

If Stamkos felt like pulling a St. Louis to force his way to us, you dont turn down a player thats still > PPG and is only making 8.5 million. Not to mention, fills our biggest hole. His 30 years are artificially long, but acquiring him would push our window to now. TB won't retain money on him, so it'd come down to how much salary we could move first and whether or not TB would treat the deal like a cap dump.

regarding bold, I mean you can put him at center cause he used to play there, but he's not a center.

are you moving Panarin out of the shooters spot on the LW on the PP for Stamkos? Not sure I do that.

Don't think the Rangers are at the point where we should be looking at a guy like Stamkos just yet.

I do agree, that Stamkos at 8.5 per for the next four years, assuming he can stay on the ice, is a steal.

See Mikko Koivu if he still wants to play would be a perfect imo stop gap veteran support center to put behind Chytil and Howden or behind Chytil ahead of Howden until he shows he’s ready. A veteran savvy defensive guy (not to mention Finnish and an idol of Kakko’s). I’d feel very comfortable on a one year deal even 2 years inexpensive if he wants to play that long Signing to sure up the bottom six with some stability and veteran leadership.

I agree. We can’t pay 3 RD huge contracts.
We will have to pay our 8-12 core players market rates and keep trading off non core players for futures. This way we keep loading the pipeline with elc’s and we can then supplement with a cheap veteran. When needed.
When the cap reaches 95 M then we’ll have some room.
So moral of the story keep drafting well.
LGR!!! 18 days til Lafreniere!!!!!

Greenway's price will probably be a little higher than people think.

I'm going to venture a guess that Minnesota banks on his uniqueness and teams betting on his "upside" as part of the sticker price.
Are you insinuating that they wouldnt do Greenway for Strome?

and I BETTER see us laughing and hanging up

And that goes back to the conversation some of us were having earlier about trades.

It's okay to like Greenway. It's okay to want to get him for a reasonable price.

So long as you understand the asking price might not be what you're proposing. Those gaps are real and a factor.

The difference between offering up Howden vs. the 22nd pick can be what stops a deal from getting done. It doesn't die because a GM just doesn't see the talent or is lazy.

Not sure their interest level in Strome.

But I can definitely see them asking for 22.

Ask and you shall receive!

...a polite "nah, dawg" from me. Love the tools and package but don't think that valuation works for me.

That being said, I can see why Minny would ask for that. I can also see the Rangers having more value placed on Greenway because of the connections to the team.

I would think the Wild would be looking for a middle 6 center with them confirming they will not be resigning Koivu and the trade of Staal. M Johnasson is a center but after that the really just have Ek and Rask. Not sure if Kunin and Bjustad are pure centers or have been playing wing.

I would not make that deal either. But I wouldn't be shocked if that's what Minnesota asks for at the start. Maybe they come down. Maybe a stacked team says, "how about pick 28(just an example)?"

That's the potential challenge when making an offer.

Koivu was 4c all season for wild.

As a starting point I can see that as their ask. Especially if there are other teams in the 23-32 range who are sniffing around him. I'm going back to January when Brooks said we'd be asking about him but who knows if the team still has interest or not.
