I guess I was assuming Staal is bought out and Hank retires/is bought out

That's what EVERYONE is assuming, it seems. In that case, you COULD trade for Lindholm AND Dunn AND sign both... maybe let the gods armwrench "Stromo (as the 'reavo/buchydaddy/howdie' guy might say)" into a 4.25M deal, 'cause why leave this place, yeah?

Realistically, STARK contrast between what actually happens and most of us want.

Play it safe, bank on Fast, Strome, DeAngelo re-signing Staal/Lundqvist staying--that way we don't all link back to woke posts (not you, just being silly :P

It would piss me off so bad. Specially if we really buy-out Hank. The reason behind any Rangers buy-out should be to re-sign ADA.

Me too but I can see it. I'm starting to come around on the idea that the organization might worry about him being a distraction. Maximize his value now and let someone else take the risk of signing him to a long term deal.

Personally, I'd rather keep him because we need him and he will be hard to replace. But I'm not going to be surprised at this point. If you do trade him, you can't f*** up the trade though and that does worry me.

He's a playoff performer. God knows we need some of those. He shouldn't be a center piece but it could help the bottom6

Was Mika killing penalties at 23 years old? I honestly dont remember

I fear that first part too. That podcast has trainwreck written all over it in the end. "Watch your tone" ... the title is awesome, as of now. Could turn ironic, badly.
Yet he is a f***ing baller! Dammit he was the most exiting mofo I saw on this team since JAGR and HANK!

I agree with the rest too. The trade proposals given earlier in the thread had me triggered again. A bridge deal is a must, and I believe we could go as low as 4.5m/2y.

I repeat, we have 4 top 4 D with ADA. Re-sign him and let him or Fox play on the left side. Done.

Call me crazy, but I’d prefer a trade for Zadorov over a trade for Dunn.

Zadorov is coming off a contract that paid him 3.2 mil. He is arbitration eligible. How much will he be looking for?

Dunn would definitely be cheaper to re-sign.

Colorado is supposed to be all in next season. Why would they move Zadorov?

You're crazy.

Zadorov sucks at everything that isn't hitting.

Numerous reports are out including a few from The Athletic this week that he’s potentially on the block. Also reports they’re interested in Hjalmarsson (not sure why) and other D.

Girard - Johnson
Graves - Makar
Byram - Timmins

Graves is cheaper. The other two lefties aren’t moving.

Zadorov is coming off a $3.2m contract and that’s not going down, but I see him getting a comparable contract to what Dunn is offered.

His advanced stats, especially around possession, were decent this season. He struggled allowing too many high danger chances, but got better in the back half of the season and he had a few big time performances in the playoffs. I believe Bednar said in an interview he was flat out dominating leading up to injury. Consistency is the big issue.

If we can make a trade and get him on a reasonable 3-4m “let’s see what you’ve got” deal for 1-2 years, I’m in. He’s a monster when his game is on.

Can anyone who has been watching these kids speak to whether Lundell or Guhle could step in and take NHL minutes next season?

Maybe if Kravstov came in and won out a spot in camp, he would have played. Or if he went to Hartford and knocked the door down the way Chytil and Lindgren did, he would have played. But there was NOTHING that pointed to him deserving of any cup of coffee.
If we don't win the lottery and get Kakko then I think Kravstov starts for us last season. There was no way Kakko was getting sent down with all of the hype and there was no reason to give VK 4th line minutes.

Lundell is older and will turn 19 on 10/3 and is entering his 3rd season in Liiga playing against men...so its not crazy to think he's could cross over, not as a 2C but in a bottom 6 role at least. But I wouldn't expect him this year mainly due to covid. he will be halfway thru his season when the nhl starts so just let him finish...but the following year when its a normal camp I'd expect him to atleast be over in camp competing for a spot.

The premise is Calgary is looking for a shake up after another disappointing post season. Their media speculation, not this board. They feel like Monahan, Gaudreau and Lindholm are very good in season players. Calgary is looking for post season performers, however.
Didn't realize Lindholm struggled in the playoffs. Makes sense but I would think trading Gaudreau would be more in line of the shake up they're looking for. I'll glady take Lindholm off their hands.

I know it’s not the sexy thing to do but I think the best course of action might be just keep Strome who played well w Panarin on a 1-2 year deal and see if anything else shakes out from teams w financial difficulties over the next year or so.

Sure if you get an amazing offer for Strome or can close on a better long term target, go for it.
That's what I would like unless someone offers something great. We know him and Panarin will be successful together. Then that gives Fil another year to get better, last year of Strome's contract he gets bumped down to 3rd and Chytil moves up and now we have a pretty good 3C and a deep lineup.
