Yeah training camp coverage has been pretty bad since preseason ended. Not sure if that has always been the case or if it's another symptom of how difficult it's getting to get dedicated sports writers these days
 
Final rosters are due at 5pm so I presume Desjardins will be getting a contract today

Unless they claim someone and then cut him but he’s on their team building trip so he’s probably getting a contract
 
I’ll bet no on Desjardins. Probably just wanted to give him a venue to seek the contract they decided they weren’t going to offer him.

Is lake placid on the moon or upstate New York? They practiced while there. They practiced the days before they left. Did you see anything outside of the first day of practice reported on? Have you read one tweet saying so and so looks good skating on a line with?

Nothing. Horrific reporting. Cerny would have been there. Amanda is watching the jaguars with her sorority sisters.

Tasch not sure he’s even full time Rangers. Gross gone. Carp gone. Pat Leonard doing a great job with the Giants. Zippy I wish was gone. Brooks picks and chooses his Twitter spots.

Amazed at the lack of reporting the NYR get these days.

As far as the 13th forward. I’ve thought about it and Carey actually is probably the best fit. You don’t want a young guy sitting every night. Carey plays all 3 positions kills penalties and skates really well within our system of speed.

He can jump in short term thru the year. We’ve got options in Hartford if something longer term pops up. When fast comes back which may be just in a couple weeks Carey is in the press box.

If desjardins gets a contract it will be a two way deal and he’ll be waived When Fast returns. But for now again better to have an older guy sitting as the 13th than have a prospect sitting. Guys like Nieves lettieri stromwell Gropp should be playing not sitting
 
I don't know why they would have kept Desjardins around this long if they weren't planning on offering him a contract. By the same token, though, I don't know why they wouldn't have given him a contract by now. I guess they've been waiting to see what came through waivers and were unimpressed.

Its a little awkward to release a player while he's suspended.

Didn’t he serve the suspension though in the preseason? I guess we’ll find out within the hour if we made a waiver claim or signed Dejsardins

I would assume the team barred reporters, I wouldn't want them around for a team building trip.

There's plenty more if you look, and that's just Zipay. There could be more coverage, sure, but you're way overblowing it.

Hopefully they will get a solid practice in New York before the thursday game.

Generally that team-building stuff, even if there is practice involved, is barred to both the media and the public. If they let a media member in it's because they're expecting some fluff piece and they get limited access to things.
 
Amanda is their host. If you want the person who is more closely related to what Cerny did in terms of writing, Matt Calamia is the one you want. He writes all the articles for the teams website and does a good job reporting.

He is probably with the team, and will write something about the trip in the next day or so. Amanda and him are pretty much always together
 
Did they train on pp and PK?
How far are we with Henrik`s mental fitness and game awareness - vital question like that since our backup goalie struggled at times in pre-sesaon, and in his last two seasons in NHL.
Miller and Hayes back on the same line - I`m not sure if I agree with that if u look at the end of last season and playoffs performances. Is M. Staal on the 2nd pairing now - all the secrecies with that Lake P. give me a light headache. I`m not too confident on thursday if we`re ready for a new NHL season. ;)

I think they're either signing someone or signing him. Otherwise they wouldn't have exposed Puempel to waivers. As of now they have 8 dmen and 12 forwards.. doesn't make much sense to not carry a 13th forward.

If I was on the beat, and the team was headed to placid I would have been on the Northway with bells and whistles on. That town rocks!

Maybe they exposed Puempel because they dont really want his contract. Remember, they signed him as a last ditch to become expansion draft compliant, and thats probably why he got a one-way.

If Desjardins doesn't get a contract I'll be pleasantly surprised, but shocked

I hate Vesey on the 4th. Should be Grabner. I understand the history aspect, but believe that Grabner will have a hard time repeating the goal scoring from last year.

On Holden.....if he is here, he is playing. The leash afforded to him and Staal is rather long. No matter what promise some of the younger defensemen show.

Yea I am not very happy about Vesey on the 4th line either. Absolutely agree that it should be Grabner.
