Provorov at 50% retention is an idea. Wouldn't even necessarily forego keeping Lindgren for the 3rd pairing if NYR chose to go that direction. I think he would work well with Fox and Panarin.
Do not want. I know, I know, never talk religion or politics at Thanksgiving, but I don't want that guy on this team.

fluff piece:

SHOOT! LOL

I like the Provorov idea but I dont see it happening. I dont see the fit if they are keeping Lindgren for at least the remainder of the year. That would mean one of Gus/Schneider sits. I think the coach likes Gus due to familiarity and that he is probably are 2nd best puck moving DMan. Schneider i think has been improving; he is young and they seem invested in him. I mean maybe they bring in a Provorov and they rotate Gus/Schneider the rest of the way
Schneider probably sits. Coaches use Lindgren to kill penalties and Gus on PP 2. The guy who doesn't play specialty teams always gets screwed.

Erik Gustafsson might be the most cost-effective signing of the NHL free-agent season — the 31-year-old defenseman contributing 21 points (4-17) getting 17:19 of ice time per with a plus-one rating and an expected goal-share of 54.1 percent on a one-year contract worth $825,000. The Swede has been a valuable addition while becoming the most stable third-pair left-sider since Marc Staal’s final season on Broadway in 2019-20.

Still, I confess that I would be much more comfortable with a crease-clearing, menacing defenseman in that spot across from Braden Schneider when the playoffs begin.

Brooks knows the deal.

No to
At least it's two non-work nights and Anaheim had some mercy on us.

That Tuesday is San Jose is gonna be a no from me most likely.

EDIT: I forgot most of you plebs don't work a 4 x 10 like I do. I will be active for the Vegas game with the few masochists that show up.
West coast best coast. Games at 4 are great.

NYR's problem in the playoffs last year wasn't in any way an inability to keep the crease clear.

It was our inability to move the puck up the ice under forechecking pressure.

I'm not some new-school "all defensemen should be 5'11"" guy, but that was pretty obvious to me from where I was sitting last spring. Really it was the NYR's bugaboo the last 2 years.

1st + Goodrow + Robertson for Buchnevich at 50% for this season and next
2nd + mid prospect for Henrique at 50%
Chytil LTIRs till playoffs

Panarin Trocheck Laf
Kreider Zib Buch
Cuylle Chytil Kakko
Vesey Henrique Wheeler
Bonino
(Henrique 3C till playoffs, Bonino at 4C, Pitlick as extra forward and Brodz as backup center)

Miller Fox
Gus Trouba
Lindgren Schneider (god help those zone exits)

Brooks doesn’t know squat if he wants a dinosaur for that spot.
You guys like these soft finesse players and those players don't win in the playoffs. 90% of this board has the Rangers mentality of acquiring soft players. We discuss this topic every year on the board. The Rangers keep losing and we blame the coach who is playing the players given to him by management.

Brian Boyle has discussed getting another big D. Nick Seeler. Protect and defend the front of the net.

I’d trade for Hanafin and sign him.

Cychrun gets hurt too often to really rely on. At his best he is certainly a fit the fit doesn’t matter if he is physically unable to play.

Hes having a pretty meh year but playing for Ottawa certainly has something to do with that.

His metrics are damn good this year though on a bad team and he’s been healthy

And make it hard to protect and defend the other team’s net by getting guys that will crash it.

I hate it, and wish it wasn’t this way, but that’s what the playoffs are all about. And bounces.

The playoffs are dumb.
