Who pissed in your cornflakes?

Must be wonderful to make snarky comments with the benefit of hindsight.

The Kreider deal was 100% overpayment on the day it was signed. Go back and take a look at that thread. It has nothing to do with my thoughts on the player (who, by the way, I love). Prior to signing that extension, Kreider's career high in goals was 28, and in points, it was 53. He also was rarely used as a PKer at the time.

Has he earned his deal in hindsight? Yes, of course he has. But that doesn't change the fact that his deal would have been a million lower if they had waited until the summer to extend, with the benefit of knowledge about the flat cap. I'll say it again: Kreider didn't give any indication that he would become the player he has at the time that deal was signed. But that's not even my point. My point is that the team got a little unlucky with the timing of those 3 deals. It's hurt our cap.
If you think someone pissed in @beer league Sniper’s cornflakes, then you must have found a turd in the punch bowl. Kreider was a great deal when he signed this contract and it has aged very well. And it will continue to age well. It was one of the very best deals Gorton and Davidson made,

Kreider was paid extra for his non-measurable contributions.

Before his tip-renaissance, he was known for his speed but also his tremendous screening ability. Kreider was responsible for dozens and dozens of goals for which he received no statistical reward from well placed screens of the goaltender.

He was overpaid at the time, but I would posit it was only by a half mil, not a full million. He's a 7.5 million dollar player right now.
And this is a totally fair take. Just tired of clowns acting like we can't look at things through the lens of what information was available at the time these decisions were made.

A guy who comes to mind that I think would have minimal cost is Kyle Okposo. 18 points so far this season, $2.5m cap hit. I doubt there will be many suiters for him and I would imagine the Sabres would at least consult him on a location as he's their captain.

Kevin Labanc requested a trade. He's had quite the down year. RW, originally from NY but his contract is hefty. I doubt SJ will retain but would they take Goodrow? Would Drury consider trading Goodrow at the deadline if the opportunity arose?
Goodrow is the last guy you want to move now. The Rangers need more sandpaper, not less.

Since January 1 Ryan Lindgren has an xGF% rel of -8.24. By far the worst for D on the team. He's a serious problem and is 100% escaping all flak for it.

It's sort of a miracle that Fox is top 10 in ES scoring rates with him on his side.
This made me lol

Agree to disagree. Forwards, 95% of the time, don't go supernova at age 29. Statistically, they're already starting to decline. That didn't happen with Kreider, and the team has obviously benefitted greatly from it.

Secret: I'm in the hotel room, just out of camera's view

This is what makes Emily elite. Meanwhile, Gingras is throwing Cuylle softball questions for the 2,223rd time.
So have Emily Kaplan and Mollie Walker ever been seen in the same place?

Just wondering.

Hardly elite analysis. Anyone here could have coughed up that analysis.

A deal with SJ makes sense since it’s Grier and Drury but they don’t have much to offer that stand out.

Maybe Sturm who has 1 yr left

Duclair and Barbanov for depth

Hoffman is a PP guy. Leblanc costs too much even at 50 off.

I guess Ferreira would be nice but that’s costs a 1st plus

Goodrow is where he should be finally, as a 4C, restricted 5v5 minutes to kill time and give the other lines a breather, not expected to contribute a whole lot offensively as long as the third line continues to provide secondary scoring. PKer.

Pick up Duhaime now cheaply and audition guys for Mika RW if Vesey can’t do it. You never know who can stick and add balance to the line.

3C and D depth at deadline.

We need more offense out of the bottom six. Not guys who have 3 assists in their last 104 games.

He's actually the first guy I want to move.

With all due respect, if it's watching you on camera from a hotel room offering original analysis or Emily offering regurgitation, I'll take the latter 11 out of 10 times.

I swear. I actually had a thought of putting a table, table cloth with a place setting and a glass of wine in front of the screen.🤣
Wife: Why did you put out the nice silverware and china? And who are you talking to?!

This Wheeler injury has made things a bit more interesting, I suspect Vesey will get most of the ice time with Kreider-Zibanejad up until the trade deadline but unless he really lights it up with them I think they will look to upgrade and push him back down to the 4th line.

I'd like to see Berard get a call up. I think with his speed and work ethic, he could be an asset on that line. Whether he sticks would depend on how well he plays, but I'd like to get a look at him so we can determine where he's at in terms of NHL readiness.

I’d be fine if they did that. Might as well see if there are solutions already here.

If reports are true that the Oilers are looking to trade Foegele, I would think the Rangers should be all over that, especially since we made them a huge favor by releasing Knoblauch to become their HC...

the rangers have two choices.

1. Put vesey on zib line and then call up someone to plug on 4th
2. Call up Othmann and put him on zibs line and keep vesey on 4th.

I would hate if they split up the other two lines.

I'm going to say the rumors are not true because it doesn't make sense. Why are the Oilers trading their best depth forward? He has 26 points in 50 games with almost no pp time.
