Holtby is the obvious answer it seems to me.

He loves playing in MSG. His relief appearance in the home opener this past year was further proof, although I believe he robbed Strome of the GWG, but we know his tendencies with open nets.

Yeah Kinkaid is absolutely terrible, people really let their hatred of Georgiev cloud their judgement on that one. I hated him too but I also knew Kinkaid was not the answer. When we were rebuilding who really cared, but we need every point we can get now so we can't have a terrible backup even with Igor.

The challenge we have is balancing quality with a willing backup.

There are more good goalies than ever and the roles are more blurred than ever.

When you see the name "Igor Shesterkin" on the roster, you know your ass is going to be plastered to the bench and you have no hope of getting hot and the coach rolling with you. It's an old school backup role.

Capable goalies are going to want to go where they have a fighting chance like Georgiev did.

I don't know that's true. Georgiev had about as bad a season as you could reasonably expect and got in 33 games.

Right and nobody plays 67 games anymore like back in the day, that's a fair point.

It's more so that you'll never be the starter. I think you could probably count on your fingers in the goalies in the NHL that have zero chance of losing their job barring injury. Shesterkin is one of them.
