Meh, the dollars for Letang aren't bad. He's a guy that will be in great shape until he's 40. Guy is a fitness freak. He won't finish that contract in Pittsburgh for sure, but he'll still be an effective player for most of that contract.

Now sign Malkin to the same deal and let then wallow in purgatory for the next 3 years.
He's a fitness freak that has missed a lot of games to illness and injury up to age 35. I don't see that getting better past age 35.

Deal is prolly front loaded and Letang get 90% of the money in 4 years and retires.
That would be very bad for the Penguins. If it's front-loaded, it counts as a 35+ contract, and the contract stays on the books even if he retires. It's much more likely that the salary is the same each year, with signing bonuses in the early years.

I'm sure its a frontloaded deal. He can be LTIR'ed and then retire if he lands another serious injury.
 
Happy for Georgie, and the Rangers for that return. If he wins the cup Hank never did with them though, I might have to find a new sport to obsess over.
