If there was ever a time to try to compile a cheap, effective bottom-6 with UFA's it's probably this year and next. So many veterans are going to be scrounging for work, specifically with contenders...

Copp, Goodrow, Motte, and Strome were all playing hurt.

Miller would be a very good offensive addition to the top-6, although it’d be lesser here considering Gallant’s usage, but it’s not worth what it’ll cost. What are you trading for him? Are you giving him an extension? What would your bottom-6 even be in that scenario?

It doesnt have to be JT, but he is the best player available and plays a position of need, so we can go with that.

Lundkvist, a 1st and one of Chytil or Kakko for a signed JTM is a pretty good trade for both sides needs in my opinion. Let's say its Chytil because VAN probably wants a center back.

Kreider-Mika-Lafreniere
Panarin-JT-Kravtsov
Blais-Goodrow-Motte (thats a true shutdown line, which we've heard rumblings that Gallant and Drury want)

as for the 4th, i am of the opinion that the Rangers can put together a workable bottom line with Hunt, Reaves, Rydahl, a veteran PK/Faceoff guy, and potentially Cuylle (who Brooks says has a chance to make the roster). At the trade deadline its much much easier to find guys who can play in the bottom 6 than it is to find guys to play in the top 6. Exhibit A & B are Motte and Vatrano who were major contributors that we gave up nothing for.

Edit: I realized i left out Kakko. Throw him in that mix, bump Motte or Blais down and the lineup looks that much better. Championship Caliber

They should considering it's their job and their content is behind paywalls
I wasn't commenting on what they should or shouldn't do. But based on track record they do not do that. No comment on anything means that these rumors are not coming out of our front office, and that should tell you enough.

Did Vancouver get permission from the Rangers to talk with Kakko yet, or are they going to trade for him as a non arbitration eligible RFA, and hope he will sign there and not hold out, or seek an offer sheet?

Are the Rangers asking themselves the same questions?

For all the faith that is put into these "insider" reports, they always leave out the most important parts.

Is Kravtsov in NA or Russia?
Last IG story that I recall he was in Russia, he travels a lot though. This summer he went to Dubai, last summer to the Dominican Republic. He is quite active on IG so I think he will post about being back once he arrives in NA, so I would assume he's still in Russia.

Kravtsov pulls all the strings in Russia though and some say he is more powerful than Putin himself, he's the last person I'd suspect having any issues with the Russian government. Don't worry

I think we all know the leaks are from Vancouver's FO because they are praying a team panics and decides they have to get something done tonight or tomorrow. If they had a big offer for Miller, he would be gone. Them "revisiting" talks they know won't get done tells us a lot.
