id be happy with that. Rangers cant have a soft team. we need more board play and grit.
Strome ??

If we could get Frederic for Strome, I'd be pretty happy.

Just so I have this straight. You'd all sign off on trading Strome, whom despite his warts has been producing at a point per game pace, for a 23 year old forward that has 4 goals and 5 points total in 30 something games?

I'd rather keep Strome.

I'd rather have Strome too, but I'd put together a pretty nice offer for a player like Frederic. Just not that involves us shipping out our 2C

Strome is playing well, but he isnt developing anymore and we all are familiar with his warts. I have serious hesitation about giving him more term. Frederic is a young, decently-sized C who plays with snarl, has upside and several more years of contract protection. I would be fine lining up with

Zibanejad
Chytil
Frederic
Howden.

All that being said, the Bruins are aware of the same and I doubt they would make that move.

There is no way I do Strome for Frederic.

I don't understand the hate aimed at Strome. He has stopped taking stupid penalties and produces. He like everyone else on the team needs to shoot more and stop trying the fancy passes so much.
How does supporting a trade equate with hatred? Do you think GMs "hate" the players they move? This is a business.

Rooney and Blackwell each have one more year on their deals. Plus Barron. I don't think Howden should be the 4C in that scenario.

I dont want to see Barron stapled to 4th line minutes from the get-go. I'd rather see him come in as 3LW.

So would I, but where exactly does he fit on the wings?

Laf, Bread, Kreider, Buch, Kakko, Kravtsov

That is our top 9 on the wings for the foreseeable future. That doesn't even include Gauthier

I'm not full team keep Strome, but I wouldn't trade him for Frederic either. As much as people here (myself included) want to believe we need more sandpaper, management obviously doesn't share that sentiment. We just traded our only piece of it to LA for a 4th rounder...I know we needed to open up a spot for Kravstov, but there were other options and that's the one they chose.

Not to mention, Strome is worth more than that...

For sure. I didn't mean to insinuate that I wouldn't like Frederic on this team, just that there's no way I'd trade Strome for him unless something else significant is coming back along with Frederic.

People are so obsessed with #toffness they'll trade a PPG center for it then complain when we don't score and wonder what happened. If you trade for #toffness you trade a similar tier player for it or picks, you don't get rid of a PPG player.

Gauthier hasn't included himself in the top-nine discussion yet. Kravtsov has started well, but we don't know that Barron couldn't beat him for a spot. Something will have to give.

Strome fits with the team and you don't trade him because he had a defensive gaffe in the 3 on 3 crapshoot last night. Yeesh.

He's not PPG this season, but he's closer than he's ever been. He's also an eight-year NHL veteran, who will go full-UFA after next season. Which Strome are you refusing to trade for a promising and tough young C on an ELC?

does anyone else feel like this means we trade lundkvist? @Edge has mentioned that the rangers are very cognizant of the overall size of the d-corp, and jones while talented and compared to fox is also similarly sized and someone like schneider would be a better fit potentially?

just bc jones signs doesnt mean he may not be traded. NYR burning that first year of his elc gets him to sign. Easier to trade an NCAA asset after they are sign than to try to trade rights when the player could just play out the 4 college years and then bolt from the team that traded for him.

I don't trade Lundkvist until I see what he can do. This guy just dominated in Sweden.

I think either guy is a potential trade candidate. But I don't think 1+1 = 2 at this point.
