You guys must think I am dumb. Martin would be a welcome addition to forecheck like hell and watch over the kids. Well worth the money. Any scoring is a bonus.

I don’t even know who f***ing Blackwell is.

Maybe you should have kept up with the Rangers free agent signings then? Bragging that you don't know him isn't really something to be proud of.

Even if Shesty is the real deal (and he is) Thank goodness we kept Georgiev huh rather than trading him for a 3rd or 4th rounder.
Teams without a decent backup this year may feel the pain even in a shortened season.
yeah, we'd be up the creek right now.

Not a fan of this baseball-type scheduling but I guess there's no way around a boring schedule with just 7 different opponents.

Just thinking, Rangers/Devils/Islanders will have significantly less travel miles on them than the rest of the league.

Just in time to make a triumphant return for the playoffs lol
Yep. Just curious why he wouldn't have hip surgery a week or two after they won the cup? Maybe he tried rehab first? I don't now but easily predictable he was gonna be back just in time for the playoffs where the cap is not an issue.
Am I wrong or did TB just totally get rid of their cap woes for this season essentially freeing up 10 million in cap space.

for the exact same reason lundqvist signed a contract and didn’t withdraw until a week ago. They didn’t know it at the time

No tinfoil hat conspiracy theories.

Rest/recovery is very much the proper plan of action before surgery for many types of injuries. TB isn't risking a talent by giving him a hip lubrication shot* and then a surgical procedure for an accounting trick. Looks like it didn't resolve the situation, or Kucherov had a setback/re-aggravation.

*'hip shot' was what was reported. I would assume it was a synovial fluid injection (lubrication) opposed to a cortisone (pain/inflammation).

probably wanted to see if he could do other things to avoid going under the knife

I watched this last night. There are some really great tidbits in here.

1 - First off, Gorton really comes off as a very warm standup humble guy in this. You really get a sense for how genuine he is in this video. You cannot walk away from watching that video without liking Gorton.

2 - Gorton IS the Rangers cap guy/expert. He used to handle it in past jobs. So, he handles it for the team as part of his duties.

3 - Calls his best trade Zibby. Best draft pick Patrice Bergeron. Best signing - Chara.

4 - Before he ended up in sports management, he wanted to be a teacher/coach/athletic director.

5 - Has a great affinity for David Quinn as a person. They seem to get along extremely well. He likes that Quinn spends so much time teaching the young players.

6 - He said main reasons why some prospects make it and others don't - 1) character. The kids who understand just how hard you have to work to make it are the ones that rise above the others. It's about the desire to improve and grow and not rest on skillset. 2) over-drafting on physical maturity. When a kid physically looks like a man amongst boys can be hard to translate when everyone is as big.

7 - When talking about kids and mindset, he made a joke about how years ago Adam Graves went to visit a prospect a few months after he was drafted and the player was walking around in a Penguins hat. As if it to say WTF, you were drafted by the NYR! I am 100000000% positive that was referring to JT Miller.

8 - Finally -- he seemed pretty excited about Zac Jones.

I watched it as well, enjoyed it.

When I heard those answers, I very much believe he was talking about Lias and McIlrath.

Julien Brisebois kicking his feet up on his desk as we speak looking forward to a cup repeat and not really needing to trade away a Cirelli or Killorn for peanuts.

One thing I will never understand on this board after lurking for over ten years is the constant arguing over bottom six players, especially fourth liners. Or when someone flips out about overpaying one by like $50,000.

This team needs veterans. A year of Martin or Chara ain't gonna f***ing break the camel's back.
