Anyone want Jesse Pulujavi besides me or is that just a pipe dream?

Yes he's not a center but for some "crazy" reason I think he'd fit in with the rebuild or 'build" as JD said recently just fine.

Kreider for Jesse and 3rd or 4th rounder or so works...no?
That would be a tragic trade return for Kreider.

Kreider for a reclamation project and a 3rd or 4th rounder??

I would offer them a 3rd round pick and say take it or leave it.

This board’s obsession with Puljujarvi needs to end.

Not saying your wrong but was just taking temperature about a trade for him. You really think Puljuaarvi isn't that good huh? Just think Jesse seems like a player who might thrive here in our environment we've established here.

I dunno, he's very enticing as he has so much untapped potential and just feel Quinn would get the most out of him. Like I said, I'm not saying your wrong but let's say we got a 2nd rounder instead of a 3rd or 4th and Jesse that still wouldn't change your opinion...eh?

I'd really be very tempted to pull the trigger on something like that. But like I said, I can see the trepidation....just sayin

Someone like that could be the prospect Krieder returns, for sure. Would probably expect a decent draft pick too. But it's not a crazy thought at all.

Kreider to EDM seems unlikely. The chances of him resigning after next season are not strong which means the return would likely not be maximized. That said, if EDM was willing to give us an unprotected 1st round pick + JP you'd have to consider it.

It's really unclear whether the Rangers can get a better return this summer for Kreider vs the TDL. Kreider is a great playoff piece. Especially given how important a heavy game is in the playoffs. Would Kreider fetch more if there's suddenly a bidding war for his services at the TDL or right now when fitting in his salary for the whole season potentially limits the teams he can go to. And especially when you consider the term. Why move around the pieces on your roster just fit in Kreider for one season? Maximizing a trade this summer might require Kreider agreeing to sign an extension with the team he's going to. Which again, limits the partners.

So, who are the right trading partners in these circumstances?
1. Colorado, Boston, Buffalo and Arizona. I'd think that the Islanders, Devils and Flyers would all have interest. But it's very doubtful that Gorton trades Kreids to those teams unless their offer is overwhelming. I don't see Kreider willing to sign an extension in Calgary or Edmonton. I doubt he'd be willing to sign extension right away if traded to BUF or ARI. All in all, trading Kreider this summer is harder than it seems. Chances of getting equal value is limited.

At this moment, I think a buyout of Smith or Shatty is most likely. Possible trades -- Namestnikov, Strome or Buch. Kreider may stay until deadline or even re-sign.

The only way they can move Smith May be to give Namestnikov away

Say Detroit who has cap space. Glendening and Daley , buy Daley out 1 ye left at 3 millionish

The Rangers can't trade for a player and buy that player out in the 2nd buyout window.

11.18 Ordinary Course Buy-Outs Outside the Regular Period. Clubs shall have the right to exercise Ordinary Course Buy-Outs outside the regular period for Ordinary Course Buy-Outs in accordance with Paragraph 13(c)(ii) of the SPC. Each Club shall be limited to no more than three (3) such Buy-Outs outside the regular period over the term of this Agreement pursuant to Paragraph 13 of the SPC. However, in the event that a Club has only one salary arbitration hearing pursuant to Section 12.3(a) in a given League Year, such Club shall not be entitled to exercise such an Ordinary Course Buy-Out outside the regular period. Moreover, a Club shall not be entitled to exercise an Ordinary Course Buy-Out outside the regular period for: (i) any Player who was not on the Club's Reserve List as of the most recent Trade Deadline, or (ii) any Player with an Averaged Amount less than $2,750,000. The dollar amount of $2,750,000 set forth in this Section 11.18 shall be increased on an annual basis at the same percentage rate of annual increase as the Average League Salary, with the first such increase occurring based upon a comparison of the 2014/15 Average League Salary to the 2013/14 Average League Salary. By way of example, if the Average League Salary for the 2014/15 League Year has increased by ten (10) percent from the Average League Salary for the 2013/14 League Year, then the figure of $2,750,000 stated in Section 11.18, shall be increased by ten (10) percent to $3,025,000.

The NHL average league salary is something like $3.4M.

EJ Hradek was on the NHL Network last night discussing arbitration. He spoke to Gorton on Monday about Trouba. Gorton said it is a "process". That word is everywhere. JD is using it too.

If Edmonton is interested in Namestnikov, I'd take a flier on Puljujaarvi. I'd also expect a mid-round pick back, say perhaps a 4th rounder but seeing if they can recoup something from a guy like him wouldn't be a bad idea.

This is not too far off imo.

Puljujarvi and a 3rd would be my ask.

Reclamation project and a 3rd round pick for a guy who can put up 40 points, maybe 50 playing with top players. He had shown that his skating and even skill can keep up.

But then again look at what JT Miller just returned....

Or is that the Tito's vodka speaking?...lol

Seriously I don't see why that would be unreasonable for both us and the Oilers.
No it most certainly doesn't work. That would be a horrible trade for the Rangers.

That would work for me.

I'd immediately think about sending Puljujaarvi to the AHL for half a season

Ugh I was all about trading for a player w 1 yr left them buying that contract out

I would fly to NY and stand outside MSG with a sign demanding Gorton be fired if that is the trade. To propose a trade that bad, I hope you had more than just a glass or two of Tito's.

Puljujarvi is unlikely to be an NHLer long term.

@NYR Viper proposal of Names for JP + 3rd is more realistic. Puljujarvi has little value at the moment.

We can bury the player, saving 1.075 mil. LA could use a forward. I'm not sure what their plan is going forward. Given the age of their team, I wouldn't think they'd be interested in someone like Kreider, but maybe Names would be an option. They have the cap space to take on his full cap hit and I could see him getting less on a new deal if they decide to keep him. We could also take back Lewis or Clifford, if necessary. Either could play for us or be buried, saving more cap.

If this were the 2014 or 2015 Rangers with a shallow prospect talent pool than I would be way more interested in Puljujarvi.

However, we are making a deal that would add to an area of strength for us. An incredible strength actually.

Of course it never hurts to add more talent, if anything he or someone helps becomes great trade capital to fill another hole. However, you dont overpay or sell other assets significantly short to get him

Alex Nylander just got traded for Jokiharju and his AHL production isn't any better than Puljujarvi's. Puljujarvi hasn't played in the AHL much the last couple of years but his 18 year old AHL season is better than any Nylander AHL season. I don't think his value is as low as expected. He's threatened to go back to Europe if not traded but I don't think that will affect his value much again because you have a market with potentially a bunch of teams bidding for him.

I get the feeling they're either not shopping him aggressively--smart, typical Gorton, or it's done but won't be announced for 2-3 weeks for business reasons. He's not going to get Kaut and a 1st. More likely a guy like Frederic, Heinen or Bowers and a 2nd.

Edmonton thinks differently - they think that Puljujarvi is going to cost a team taking on Lucic's anchor. I think they'll be waiting a long time to make that deal.

At this point, Edmonton will make it as painful as possible for Puljujarvi. It becomes personal.
