That's borderline impossible. Specially ADA has every argument to not sign his QO. Imo we will have to pay at least Buch and ADA. Lemieux might accept.

Best case scenario is that someone actually takes Smith without us having to sweeten the pot. Nam and Smith traded, that's what we have to do.

Panarin is a baller no doubt, but I f***ing hate the cap crunch that came with it.

Is it really? He is not arbitration eligible this year. He has no leverage. Labanc just signed a 1-year contract for 1m for the exact same reason, to take him to RFA with arbitration next year

If no one is traded, they need to buy out Shattenkirk. Assuming Trouba, DeAngelo, Buchnevich and Lemeuix will not cost more than 14 mill. If they cost more, than they need two by outs. Could of course try to trade Beleskey with a pick. That saves 825k.
Kirk is the last one to be bought out as his contract makes it not worth it at all next season. Gotta keep him and hope to trade him or ride it out

Am I the only one who’s having problems on here using my phone? I can’t even read the posts, I automatically get a pop up saying i won a free phone or I have a virus and get redirected off this site and I keep have to come back in here.

I am still hoping for that Gorton can get something done down the trade route with Shattenkirk. For example, Trouba is owed 10.6m and has a 13.5m cap hit over two years. If Gorton can deal him for a similar contract but that isn’t front-loaded, that itself is a big win.

Would like a team like CBJ consider Shatty for Dubinsky? Dubinsky’s buy-out is just 1.9m per for 4 years. We would save 4.9m per for the coming 2 years. Dubi is owed the same amount of money as Shatty. Shatty should have much more value than Dubi IMO, could we get CBJ — or another team with a similar contract — to retain some? There are many contracts like that out there...

I wonder if the Blues would be interested in Kreider to replace (and then some) what they’re going to lose in Maroons size and netfront presence. I would ask about Robert Thomas.

You could ask. That's where the conversation ends though.

It'll be like giving up Filip Chytil to acquire Mike Hoffman

You kind of have a point with ADA. Labanc has played more games with solid to really nice numbers, but his deal is some bs. ADA could accept a similar offer, he doesn't have to. Ultimately we have to shed some contracts. To me it would be Nam first. In that case we could do even without the buyout, if ADA and Lemieux sign cheap and Buch gets lowballed with 2.5M.

Is there any news on trades?

ABSOLUTELY not. Every right, yes.

DeAngelo was a serviceable NHL player for only ~4 months. He deserves AT LEAST a QO... and be happy the Rangers offered.

Let’s not run Brodeur down because he played for the enemy or because he is a jerk. He was a very good goaltender who benefitted from playing in a defensive system designed to maximize his ability.

That said, in this era there’s Hasek and then there’s everyone else.

But for me it was and always will be Terry Sawchuk.
Terry Sawchuck!
Are you posting from the other side?

And I thought I was old.
And I am.;)

How about Columbus? Lots of things to pick from there in the minors. They could use a win after this offseason.

Dominic Hasek is, IMHO the greatest goalie of all time.

To me number 2 is Henrik.

I think both Roy and fatso are overrated but still great. I'd have Roy top 5, fatso top 10.

My issue is I'm only 39 years old, I haven't seen all the super old guys play.

Is that your only issue? ;)

My point was that if they are going with only one buy out, Staal or Smith would not be enough to come in under the cap.

Well this is how old I am...

The first Rangers game I clearly remember (on radio) was November 1, 1959. The goalies were Gump Worsley and Jacques Plante. And that was the game Plante got badly cut by Andy Bathgate shot and became the first goaltender to come back wearing a mask.

Sawchuk was the goaltender at the second or third game I saw live. He was so good. Cary Price calm and Mike Richter athletic.
