I did too out of curiosity lmao. What are we missing here? His brother on twitter was the first one to break the news about Dallas I think? I do remember him following the Stars and within 30-45 mins, the trade was announced. So i'm not really sure if I'm buying that is his brother.

Not true... Kreider is $4.625M in savings on a first liner... that's why he WILL be traded. A bargain for what he is, not worth what he'd get.

If you want to create cap space, trades only really work if you get back assets that aren't counting against the cap. How is what I said "not true"?

He carried his team in Russia. Led his team in points until he missed significant time due to the WJC and then still ended in the top 3 in points. I think he can step in as a middle 6 winger and his 35 points this season if he's used right. That's my only worry. Quinn seem to have the same "issue" as every other coach in that regard where he relies on players who "at least try" or "show effort. It's one of the reasons why Vesey should be bought out if nobody wants him in a trade. And I'm serious. Take that player away from Quinn as an option

however you want to line them up and assuming the two wundertwins make the team, we are gonna have a crowded lineup. If no Panarin, I think Namestnikov might be important to onboard Kravtsov although Georgiev could also fill that role. His English seems pretty good. Buch... needs improvement I would also consider a Russian vet to play in Hartford to help Rykov of Shesty but I don't think there really are any that fit that role.

Which is why we kind of need to subtract 2 forwards. I also would not be surprised at all if kravtsov will be shipped back and forth on a few occasions. I don’t want that to be a constant thing though. Even chytil or LA may have to go up and down. Right now is kinda the tricky part of where this team is at.

buying him out saves us virtually no cap space in year 2...so if you want to use the savings this year to take on a bad contract for 1 year in return for an asset that works but if you are talking about signing a guy for 7 years than clearing space in just year 1 doesn't work

The amount that Shatty's buyout cap hit would go up in year 2 would be offset by the reduction in Girardi's cap hit and the cap hits of Spooner and Beleskey coming off the books.
