How come I always get the sense that Gorton has all his stuff in a row and gets his trade offers/counters done in a timely fashion, while it is always other GMs dragging their feet and trying to squeeze other stupid stuff that won't happen
Funny how no one said this at last season’s TDL when folks couldn’t believe we included Miller and didn’t trade Zucc at the same time lol

I wonder if the hold up on Zuccarello is about anything more than the cap not being announced yet.

Just another thought...@Edge did say the Rangers were talking to Dallas about taking the conditions off the Zuccarello 1st next and possibly making this year's 1st available instead. Perhaps there's still negotiating going on before the draft.

If teams want spare D they can pick them up as free agents on July 1. So why trade a draft pick for Claesson? There will be a lot of guys available and for cheap.
I used the example of Mazanec. Did you ever think anyone would trade us anything for Mazanec? Injuries come up, from camp to preseason to the regular season. Claesson in an actual NHL defenseman that's probably better than most of what's out there in camp or during the year. Maybe you don't get a pick, maybe it's a C-level prospect, but you might get something.

Could this Claesson situation be that thing the Rangers do where they just let a guy go to pursue better opportunities (even though it's generally with euro players)?

Not a lot going on on the left here

Ah I see what you were saying. Let’s just say I disagree.

For one thing, Staal and Smith are NHL players. They may be 3rd pairing caliber and not necessarily even good 3rd pairing caliber, but they’re still NHL players.

For another, between Hajek, Lindgren, Rykov, and Reunanen, I would guarantee there’s at least 1 NHL ready rookie in there.

I just looked through his trade history, it was really just the one trade he worked on for over a year and a half that he knocked out of the park

Joe is smart with asset management. Never gave into big deadline buys when the team wasn't ready. Patient with Duchene. Opted for value trades. He's not likely to shell out grande assets irresponsibly for a roster player. It'd be a fair deal.

They mentioned the Zegras to Chicago thing on Hockey Central at Noon today. I think it was Cosentino who they had on who mentioned it. Noted that the past few weeks had Turcotte, Dach, Byram and now Zegras as "the guy" for the Hawks.

If its AZ and CO for Kreider. That does sound like a draft table deal. But maybe not bc what if the guys those two teams want start coming off the board

Yea we are going to have to see who’s avail . Nyr May take 14 and a lesser piece if they really want a guy.

Plus other teams will offer good players but I think Kreider is sought after more than others

I hold out for Crouse or Jost

Turcotte, Byram and Zegras I’ve heard with frequency. Haven’t had Dach come up.

@TheKingsCourt On Chytil being untouchable. Maybe he should be. I love the kid. I am a little afraid that we will handcuff his potential by rushing him as much as we are, he isn’t out there running PPs and what not which you should do at his age. But it’s not something I am sure of will happen. A kid like Zibanejad has really stepped up his game slowly but surely in the NHL. Chytil is still sooo young.

But, no matter what, I do have to say that I am not sold on the current mix we have up front. And I do think that someone like Turcotte or Newhook would be exactly what the doctor orders. We just don’t have any of that speedy playmaking game in our system, and it’s guys like that that are really really thriving in this league right now.

If we could get someone like Newhook or Turcotte I think it would be really interesting to look into it, and moving Chytil could make some sense for me from that perspective.

Could be the fall back option if none of the other deals come through for an earlier pick. Or perhaps as a move during the first round if the Rangers see a third guy sliding they want to grab.

Not an accurate description of him, but okay.
It absolutely is. He craved feeling important like an addict.

When Weekes prematurely reported Shattenkirk was signing, Ricky reported it. Then when Weekes retracted he said Weekes f***ed up. Then when Shattenkirk eventually signed he wanted credit for the original report. One of weirdest sequences I've seen.

Like him all you want, but if you want to take up his cause here, we should remember it how it really was.
