I don't see Edmonton's 8th pick OA up there which sucks. I doubt Vancouver would move their 10 OA pick unless it was to move up. I see nothing on there in regards to Buffalo. Granted, this isn't a cut and dry board but what's known and what information is credible that can be leaked. I wonder if we are actually trading for Jesse Puljujarvi...
Logic would say that they would move that 8th in the right deal. They need NHL guys. They can’t sit around and waste McDavids prime.

I had a dream last night, well it was more of a nightmare, that Jeff Gorton walked out to the podium and announced he was proud to offer the second pick to the Calgary Flames. I didn't stay asleep long enough to find out what the return was but I'm blaming this thread
HA!

I had a dream the Flyers traded for 1OA, and selected Byram. They're even bad managers in my dreams

Why not? Neapolitan pizza is a southern Italian pizza. The majority of Italians who immigrated to America over the last 2 centuries came from that area and settles mostly in NYC, NJ and Philly. They most definitely brought Neapolitan pizza with them here.

And like most things they brought with them it morphed into something else...or not.

One of the best NY style slices I've ever had was prepped by the Pizzaiolo in the kitchen of my cousins B&B in Campania.

In Naples most folks are eating cloud light Pizza with a fork.

The miracle of cultures blending...thru Pizza. Il migliore!

Okay... I'm gonna give this a crack (hoping for some vetted likes)...

I can totally see the following framework of a deal:

To Leafs:
Kreider with retained
+

To Rangers:
Nylander
Marleau (flipped or bought out)
++

Would it work if we could dump some salary to them (i.e. Smith, Shattenkirk, etc)?

I dont want the baggage from Edmonton necessarily to acquire 8OA. I can't talk myself into anything realistic with that team

I thought the Oil would maybe make it more of a known thing. Whatever it takes to get into the Top 10 to grab a guy the Rangers covet the most at that position.

The players on that trade bait list, nothing, in particular, I'm thrilled about. If the Rangers want to make a civilized trade that isn't some sort of blockbuster, totally cool with that. I just hope we don't use Kreider and Buchnevich chips to cash in on that opportunity.

Turris, Zucker?

The Rangers traded:

Stepan when he was 27
Hayes when he was 27
Brassard when he was 28

It literally goes against everything they have done to all of a sudden give up assets for these guys.

I think the Rangers want Cozens from all accounts we’ve heard. If they can move Kreider to get the pick that gets them Cozens they’ll do it. Having said that, it’s not going to happen picking 10th. They need to look at Colorado buffalo and maybe the most viable option in Edmonton. There’s no way Cozens is there after the 8th pick.

I think they want Zegras.

But I'm sure Cozens is high on their list too.

I am in Raleigh.

@Tawnos

Assuming you have Instagram check it out

It's in a really cool Food Hall that had only been open around 6 months. You should check it out in general. I am there at least once a week.

Ha, I grew up (middle school, high school. college) in Raleigh/Cary/Chapel Hill. Went up to PA for grad school. Now back in NC -- in Fayetteville. Trying to get out and back to the Triangle ASAP.

There's a restaurant across the street from my apartment where they serve flammkuchen. It's delicious!

We got a joint here, specialized in all-you-can-eat Flammkuchen. All kinds of varieties and even desert Flammkuchen. You can't go wrong, it's umami-overkill, creme, onions and bacon ... how can that ever go wrong.

The dish originates somewhat in our region, that is french Germany basically. Our inofficial state-motto is: "Hauptsach gutt gess!" i.e. "Main thing, eat well!"

My guess:

Buffalo is discussing a Buch and Vesey for a package involving #7 and a prospect.

Arizona is after Kreider and Buch with #14 and is willing to include a youngish roster player but the Rangers are trying to get a higher end prospect included as well.

Yes I'm trying to distract myself from all the pizza talk. I'm fasting and now starving.

Buch/Vesey package for 7, Kreider for 14?

Sign me up all day long.

Come away with Cozens and Newhook. Wingers going forward are Kakko, Kravtsov, Andersson and Chytil. Can move Zibanejad for a top defenseman in a year or two.

I don't think any of the guys you listed were traded strictly because of their age though. Step and Hayes were contract related. Brassard was a chance to steal Zib.

Personally, I wouldn't want to trade Buchnevich unless we are getting a MASSIVE return.

After getting benched by Quinn at the all-star break and stepping up his play, he scored 23 points in the last 32 games of the year. That's a 60 point pace. If you want to cherry pick, over the last 10 games of the season, he scored 9 points. That's a 70 point pace.

So you've got a kid who has already put up and sustained top line production for a half a season. The fact that it's the most recent half a season is especially relevant because it could be the best reflection of the player he is now. Put differently, if he can sustain what he did for the last half of the season, Buch is currently a first line player. Right now. He just turned 24 2 months ago.

Buch turning into a first line player would not be surprising. Before coming over to the US, he put up the 2nd highest scoring U20 KHL season of players currently in the NHL. That's better than Panarin and Tarasenko, who have been cornerstone players on cup-contending teams. The most similar prospects to Buch in terms of league and production - Kuznetsov, Tarasenko, and Panarin - didn't have their breakout NHL seasons until they were 23, 23, and 24. That's basically exactly the same Buchnevich is now / was when he turned it on and produced at a 1st line rate for the second half of the season.

There's always uncertainty with young players and Buch having a strong half a season doesn't guarantee anything, but I think there's a lot of cause to believe that he could be in the middle of breaking out as a first line caliber player. Again, he's 24. So I worry that if we trade Buch, we could be trading a young, controlled first line player basically right as he breaks out. That's the exact opposite of what you want to do in a rebuild. Personally, I would need a HUGE return to forego that upside.

@Edge if there's a reason the Rangers might view him differently, or there are some holes in my thinking, I'd be curious if you could plug in what you think those might be.

We need @Edge to create a Twitter account with a fake alias, let us know what it is, and then live tweet his updates and tidbits tomorrow starting at 12 noon through the draft. Would be much easier than hitting refresh on these boards LOL
