I'm finding it hard to believe the Canucks will deal the pick. The draft is in their own building. Would think are going to bring a guy up to that podium tomorrow.

Edmonton, Colorado, Buffalo, Florida would be my top 4 choices to make a trade tomorrow.

Add a team to that list, or swap Florida with a western conference team.

When we lived in NY we were on the North Shore, in Bayville. We either got Mario's in Oyster Bay, or Gus's on Bayville Ave by Ransom Beach. I think Mario's was the overall better pie, but I liked Gus's more as they had a cheesier pie.

I've never understood this idea. Wouldn't having Bettman announce a big trade be arguably more exciting to the hometown crowd?

(Also, as someone else pointed out, the Devils traded the #9OA for Schneider the day of the draft, when it was held in Newark.)

I think the Rangers want Cozens from all accounts we’ve heard. If they can move Kreider to get the pick that gets them Cozens they’ll do it. Having said that, it’s not going to happen picking 10th. They need to look at Colorado buffalo and maybe the most viable option in Edmonton. There’s no way Cozens is there after the 8th pick.

In a similar boat. Everyone says North Carolina is known for its BBQ, but in my opinion South Carolina BBQ blows it away. I will say the quality of the bakeries here is outstanding. North Carolina has the best breads of anywhere else I have ever lived and it is not particularly close. A place opened a couple of months ago that even makes bagels that stand up to NY/NJ, which was a shock to me. Different eating experience but a bagel that stands out. I just try to eat my carbs early so my body has time to get rid of them. That's how it works...right?

You don't happen to be in Charlotte, do you? Because if so, I need to know about this bagel place.

All of these discussions are silly, IMO. SC BBQ is great, so is NC, KC, TX, etc etc. They really shouldn't be compared with each other, but only within their own categories. For example, I like Moe's BBQ is Matthews, NC more than Queen City Q... both NC. I always say there are 5 major pizza categories in the US. NY-style, Chicago-style, gourmet (i.e. California pizza kitchen, Mellow Mushroom, etc), frozen, and fast food (Pizza Hut, Domino's, etc). Comparing across pizza categories is a fruitless endeavor.

Short of a bunch of blockbuster acquisitions that jam up the Rangers cap, buying out Smith makes zero sense.
Even then, he'd have a $3.145M cap hit in 20-21, so unless the blockbusters are one year deals, you'd need to have another plan to get around it next year.

Mrs. Savant is in the restaurant industry. Talking more about the trend.

She works for a very famous chef in the area, whom is about to open a Neapolitan pizza place (albeit in North Carolina) and the quality of Neapolitan is something we argue abou . Figured now was a good chance as any to get some internet acquaintances to break a tie.

Where in NC? Always looking for good restaurants near me...

I am in Raleigh.

@Tawnos

Assuming you have Instagram check it out

It's in a really cool Food Hall that had only been open around 6 months. You should check it out in general. I am there at least once a week.

I’m thinking there is a lot of interest in Kreider, but teams don’t want to pull the trigger bc they are being hopeful to trade for a guy with more term. But the Rangers would want to move Kreider for a package that involves a pick coming back. Two different time frames.

One name I haven't seen spoken about much that might fit some of the hints dropped - Jason Zucker.

That being said, its hard to keep up with how fast these threads are moving.

My guess:

Buffalo is discussing a Buch and Vesey for a package involving #7 and a prospect.

Arizona is after Kreider and Buch with #14 and is willing to include a youngish roster player but the Rangers are trying to get a higher end prospect included as well.

Yes I'm trying to distract myself from all the pizza talk. I'm fasting and now starving.

I feel like the Cozens stuff is a smokescreen.

Just seems like the info about us liking him made its way around wayyyyyyyy too easily, that isn’t typical of the Gorton Rangers. I mean, there wasn’t a peep about the Trouba or Hayes deals until they had already happened.

Can Shatty play the off-side?

Trouba
ADA
Fox

I don't see where Shatty fits in unless Fox is completely unprepared. I think they were anticipating him playing in the NHL. But maybe you give him some time in the AHL, call him up mid-season and hopefully Shatty performs at a level decent enough to trade him during the year (assuming we can't move him now).

I don't see any reason why we would move Smith. He is the perfect spare part to have. Sure, he is absurdly overpaid, but that's not an issue this season.
Carolina ran with 4 RHD for a while, I don't see why the Rangers can't do it. It's not the best solution but neither is stupidly buying out 22.
