If all we can get back for Vesey is a 3rd rounder I wouldn't do it. He's an NHL body and we're going to need some and we can revisit moving him again at the trade deadline. For me--if it's a draft pick it's a 2nd or bust. The truth is Lettieri is our best wing prospect in Hartford and Lettieri's not a bad player but he ain't as good as Vesey. IMO none of Gettinger, Meskanen or Gropp are NHL ready. Perhaps Elmer will come in like gangbusters but that remains to be seen.

On Kreider I would really want a mid 1st +. If it's a later 1st and we're moving him the + should be a ++(+). I'd be looking for a player who might be in our lineup within two years anyway.

Eh, maybe I'm more down on them than most but I think Vesey is a dime a dozen player. Bottom 6 winger who scores a bit, but isn't really ideally suited for PP or PK.

Me: Can I get a plain slice?
Them: Oh you mean a cheese slice?
Me: Don't they all pretty much have cheese....?

Go to FL sometime and ask for a plain pie. Then laugh when they respond by saying they don’t sell any pies... they sell pizza. Facepalm again

Do you think it's possible that they swing a deal with CK for a first, then swing a second deal with Buch for another first and try to put them together to get into the top 5? Something like Buchnevich/Vesey to Buffalo then Kreider to AZ? That's a lot to grab one pick as a centerpiece, but if they believe that they could land a potential franchise center or believe Byram is a true top defenseman then maybe they do it? Other small adds here or there obviously... just talking about main pieces.

I continue to think it’s most likely one or the other.

Not that Tampa needed a ton of cap space but very convienent that Callahan is basically retiring a couple days before free agency lol

Coming late to the pizza discussion...been on the road all day.

After 70 years in NY (city and suburbs) and one year in Charlotte, NC, I unashamingly admit to being a NY pizza snob. My standards are very high. Best pizza I ever had was at the source: Naples, Italy. Also in Sicily (totally different from NY Sicilian), Verona, and in a small, working class neighborhood in Rome. But I love NY pizza]

Agreed, I was stationed at Naval Hospital Sigonella just outside of Catania, Sicily for three years. The best pizza I've had, ever..Brick oven is key..

16OA for Kreider is quite underwhelming. Need to get into the Top 10 again. Don't mind adding but feel as if there may be more of an overpayment from the Rangers in order to get to that position. Who would we take between 14-16, anyway? I know there are a few factors that can dynamically change things, but who could we expect as a target in return? Do the Rangers really like someone in that position? Would the Rangers try to flip the 16th and another rostered player to move into the Top 10?
Maybe Suzuki or Tomasino?

I don't think it's possible to get into the top 5 at all. Top 10 is also probably a long shot but again maybe those Buffalo or Edmonton picks could be had for a bit of an overpay

Rangers might be happy just getting back into the teens though if they also get a prospect they like

Top 10 is definitely possible because both Buffalo and Edmonton need help sooner rather than later. If we can get the 14th overall pick, maybe we trade Vesey, 14th and a 3rd for 7th overall. Buffalo gets an extra pick, a player they want, and only move back 7 spots.

There was a standup during the 80's comedy boom that had a bit about showing up to his dorm as a freshman and meeting his roommate from New Jersey. The roommate was like "Hey you wanna split a pie?" and he's thinking "This guy really likes pie."

Are you hearing it’s a NHL player coming back with the pick in either case

It’s been discussed. I don’t have a bead on anything but the teams and their firsts being discussed. At least when it comes to Kreider, which was the middle option I said had a 60/70 percent chance of happening.

He'll be on LTIR and still count against the cap. Yes, they will be able to go over the cap, but it's still not an ideal situation. There's a reason that Chicago traded Hossa to Arizona.

Never tried to order a whole pie down there, but they did offer me another piece of pizza at one point. I said no buddy I'm not looking for a snack, I'll take the whole slice pls. Buncha weirdos.
