once the Kane acquisition became more than a pipe dream, i cant understand why Mikkola hasnt been traded for a downgrade in salary cap to either acquire more depth or allow them to have an extra forward on the roster. Mikkola is likely due for a raise from his 1.9 cap hit, which , considering their cap issues, likely means he wont re-sign. So why keep him now when they need bodies on the roster? Why not re-acquire Staal who is under 800k and then bring up or acquire another forward?

Because he is so much worse than Mikkola.

If it is true the NYR are not allowed an emergency recall the rest of the regular season (not sure why last night and the Motte injury would not allow for this?), then the NYR depth is going to be sorely tested and I am concerned about this team's ability to get in a groove down the stretch if they can't play with a full roster for an extended period of time. If that blows up on them, finger has to be pointed squarely at Drury (or probably more fairly Dolan since he pushed for this Kane circus).

Mikkola has been good and has fit his role perfectly. Trading him would be silly.

What they need to do is waive Harpur and acquire another #7.

Would have had to waive him yesterday, no?

this is my point. its nothing against Mikkola. He is an expiring contract who will likely need a raise in offseason. If Rangers plan on signing him and moving other parts out, then keep him. If they dont plan on re-signing him, they need to have depth here for the rest of the season.

It's a stupid point because they're not trading someone they just traded for two weeks ago. Not even worth discussing.

They'll also get an emergency recall for next game. The "Created the situation" thing had to do with last game. Now they've played a game short with this roster. Playing short is a positive anyway. Why would you want a worse player to come up and play more? Nobody had an outrageous amount of minutes yesterday. Trouba got 25 which is in line with plenty of dmen. Fox got 29 which is not ridiculous for a 1D on occasion and had a lot to do with 7 mins of PP time.

I'm not sure Mikkola will get a raise. I actually think he will sign for less what he makes now if he gets around 3 years term.

Rangers are going to be a little bullied in the playoffs.

These guys have 20 games to figure this out and maintain position. They need to play defensively. With the skill we have, should be more of an opportunistic approach to offense. Not sure if they will buy in.

Then again, we need to see Shesterkin round back to form and our D back playing

i dont know the answer to this.....when miller gets activated, theyll have 6 d. if lindgren is back after saturday, do they get to keep the emergency recall if motte is still out? basically creating the extra forward on the roster while keeping the 7th d

Who came up with this shit?

We lost last night when fatigue kicked in... The mission now has to be to get into the playoffs with as much juice left as possible, nvm points and standings. If we make it into the playoffs worn out the party is over before it began.

Kane was the wrong choice, Lafferty was the right one. But here we are and lets see what happens. If we don't get some practice and some D help before tomorrow, the Bruins might beat us so bad we get relegated. Haha

Emergency is for one game only I believe?

Did anyone else have Motte injured within ten games of being acquired or was that just me?
Good call. Unfortunately his style of play lends to getting injured IDK. I felt we should just keep him and Goodrow in a bubble until game 1 of the playoffs.
