This team MUST find some more NHL caliber center depth.

8 year NHL player I believe.
Age 27 or 7 accrued seasons apparently. So if you’re saying before year 8 he’s eligible for UFA you’re right.

They are going to go for Kane if they are near the top of the standings. I think he’ll be rejuvenated with Panarin again playing for the Cup. Hopefully he forces his way here to lessen the return.

One thing I was hearing about last years TDL acquisitions and why they fit so seamlessly was that Drury targeted guys who were playing on teams playing meaningful and competitive games.

Really hope that's something Drury weighs this time around too because I think it does make a difference.

Also don't like the idea of a player intentionally waiting to see which teams are good before picking and piggy backing off their success. Totally understandable and I don't blame the guy, but it doesn't sit right with me. It's like Giroux last season. Panthers brought him in and he had less impact than Vatrano who they practically gave away.

Rangers trade 1st round the later pick in 2023 and 3rd in 2023 (Avs) to Predators for Tanner Jeanott

Rangers get a cost controlled forward who is 25 and an RFA. Rangers get a power forward for the playoffs. Someone that crashes the net and score ugly goals. Someone that will stick up for teammates and play a physical game. A momentum changer type of player.
I love Jeannot and Trenin but you can't give up a first let alone a 1st and 3rd for a guy with 6 points. Last year looks like an aberration and not the norm. I would target both of them to replace Blais and Brodzinski. Basically the same salaries but would solidify the 4th line. I dont see either team giving up a 1st for either guy. Jeannot is on pace for 13 or 14 points. If he doesn't turn it around he gets a 1 yr 1 mill contract. People are fascinated with his last years totals.....its not last year anymore.

The key for Drury if he goes for Kane is how he’s going to get a defenseman on top of that. It’s still the number one priority. I like what Harpur has brought as a clear 7D upgrade over Hajek but that’s all he is

If we did trade for Kane I don't think putting him with Panarin would be ideal, but you know because of their bromance that would be the likely outcome.
Kane would be ideal for zib. Kane can transport the puck and he loves to break a d down on the right side and hit a player for a one timer on the left side of the ice. Zib would be the new debrincat. That all said, no...

I think its a sophomore slump for him. He is too good to be having a bad year.

Panarin and Kane's bromance scares me.... I hope and pray Drury doesn't do it.
It's gotta be about the cost though, right? If they can get him cheap then it wouldn't be a bad move. You basically need him to force his way here and then only give up a 2nd and a B level prospect or two or something like that. Make the 2nd turn into a 1st if we win the Cup so the Hawks can call it a first rounder to their fans.

Kane would actually fit nicely in Goodrow's slot now and it pushes other people down. It's all about the cost though. I'm not paying out the ass to get him, that's for sure. I do think we would see a rejuvenated Kane if he were traded here though.

Obtain cheap pieces...keep the first rounders for when we will actually need them ! No way in Hell this is a Cup championship team......some people need to stop sniffing the team jet fumes of late . We are just not far enough along in the build depth wise to contend and too much luck is needed to win with this or the revamped roster . We are just pretenders until we have Sykora/Othmann/Cuylee playing and also have depth available from our own farm system ready.......slow it down fellows....the Firsts are the key to our success despite previous bad selections.....give it time !!!!

I still seriously doubt Drury goes hard after Kane. If we're talking like a 2nd round pick or a mid-prospect like Jones or Robertson, maybe. I doubt he dives in with a first/Kravvy/Kakko or any of that nonsense we've heard/seen speculated. Drury is much more likely IMO to address depth. You know he knows we need a 6 LD, he's the one who signed Nemeth in the first place and then bought him out. It's a glaring weakness. I do believe it'll be addressed.

Agreed. I think the only way Kane ends up here is if its a "NYR or nowhere" situation (which is entirely possible).

My plan would be to give Kravtsov a real shot with Mika & Panarin to see if they can click. If it works, trade for Motte or someone in that mold to add speed and forechecking to the bottom 6. If Krav falters, Id be looking to bring in a Tarasenko/Bertuzzi RW type who can play playoff hockey.

On defense, they need a 3LD with size and experience. I like the Edmundson suggestion by Brooks, as long as MTL retains. Kulikov is another option. Chychrun would help but thats a tight cap squeeze and a lot to give up.

Forget shoehorning Kane in.

Like, if they do this deal its just bad management.

Kane on the PP was operating from the same spot where Mika has gotten 10 PP goals. Why would you remove Mika from there, OR pay to bring Kane in to have him play in a different spot. I hate the idea. Because thats a big part of Kanes game right now.

Focus on improving the defense and getting another top 9 forward who can hit, play defense well and shoot the puck. Vatrano and/or Lehkonen type that you can get on the cheaps. Save the 2 firsts.

Any word on Chytil?
Have to imagine it's a full day off for the team with the back to back and 3rd in 4 nights, heading into their 4th in 6 nights.

Maybe Gallant does media today, but we may only find out if they are calling up a center to have on the roster in case.

Chytil getting concussed on any medium hit is a big concern for his career. Some people who get repeated concussions will then take less and less impact to create new concussions. Would be such a gut punch of this is in fact another concussion.

Agree with keeping the 1sts if they can, but the depth and experience on this year's team is lightyears ahead of where we were at the same time last year. Just because we got off to a bad start doesnt change the fact that this is a "go for the Cup" year. You dont sit back and wait when you have a core of star players in their prime and top draft picks in the NHL who are improving every game. What have you seen in the Metro or East as a whole that makes you think we cant make another deep run?

Conor Garland with some money retained is the play here...
I agree. Fits better than Kane. Kane does not fit on PP1, there is no one you can take off that unit. Garland brings more to the table in terms of grit & compete. Both small players so no advantage either way in size.
