Brooks definitey covering his tail now. Basically said Rangers would have no interest in Shattenkirk only days ago. Now he is saying 'well offf courssssee the rangers are going to speak to shattenkirk'

Ok brooksie. Ok.

I am amazed these 2 clowns still have a job. I am still laughing at Cyrgalis saying that Fast's injury meant we could now protect Raanta for the expansion draft haha

Such a foolish comment to make. What if Shattenkirk needs 8.5 to get it done. Do you still want to pay him?

I mean come on. There comes a point where he isn't worth it anymore.

Obviously within reason...
I'm saying shut him down because he wants 6.5 rather than 6.

Meant no offense by it at all my dude.

Oh of course. None taken. This was the first one I've had confirmed multiple times. Asked permission to post about it. If I'm wrong, I'll retract.

Gotta have at least SOME credibility in this whole blogging thing.

Not sure how many times it has to be said but

-Thornton has been healthy his whole career
-he is always in great physical shape
-he is an upgrade over Stepan and every area of the game
-career 52% on the faceoff dot
-big body center who could really help Hayes
-a ton of playoff games under his belt

You add Thornton and hopefully Shattenkirk...how is this team not a contender?

Thornton better than Stepan
Shattenkirk better than Girardi
DeAngelo better than Holden/Klein

Faster more talented defense with very likely a better PP.

Fail to see how they wouldnt contend

You are assuming that age and major knee surgery will have no effect on Thornton's play moving forward. I would bet against that. We still have Arniel running the powerplay which doesn't inspire confidence. We also lack players who raise their level of play in the playoffs. Something every team that has one the cup recently has in spades.

I think we will pay him what we want and if he doesn't want that... Pay the man implies to just open up the checkbook like Buffalo and NJ will. That would be a COLOSSAL mistake for us.

I think we offer Shatty 6 million over 7 years where as NJ or Buffalo would offer 7.25 x 7, 7.5 x 7 or maybe even 8 x 7. Difference of 8.75 - 14 million over the contract. NJ has the space, needs to compete and is desperate enough to pay him that much. That would be where the millions comes into play.

If he plays next season, I'll be put in the blogger dunce corner.

Your concerns over the surgery are fair. But I am going to take the optimistic route.

As far as the rest. Well yeah I cant stand Arniel. He is garbage.

Level of play in the playoffs? I mean a lot of this group played in the SCF and ECF. They raise their play. But Thornton can only help that.

Our most timely goal scorer during the finals run was MSL. The last two years very few players have raised their game. Hank had to stand on his head against a mediocre Habs team to get our one series win.

Marleau hasn't been a center since Pavelski made the team. Pavelski is entering his eleventh season.

That would be a bizarre experiment.
