LOL at the relax remark.

They'll move Miller to center if they have to. If they use this opportunity to shore up the D in a big way like bringing in Shattenkirk and resigning Smith hopefully the improved D will help cover up Hayes' complete unwillingness to play defense.

Well, Kevin Hayes needs to have a phenomenal breakout year. We sold Stepan because we didn't believe in his future. Hayes is the one that has a higher ceiling to reach, apparently.
 
I will evaluate this trade when I see the full picture.

What's the strategic move?

Obvious upside: cap space, draft picks, and a prospect
Downside: we have lost 2 centers in 48 hours

If this is a long term play to land MacKinnon or an elite Center and sign Shatty, then this will look a lot different. However, if we are keeping the picks and DeAangelo ... then we need to look at this as a full rebuild. Does Nash, Zucc, and even Hank get moved? There is no way we go into next season with Hayes as our 2C. I like him still, but not as a 2C yet.
