If the lowest Kreider will accept is 7x7 (likely with some sort of NMC), do you...

  • Trade him

  • Sign him

  • Rent him for the playoffs and let him walk as a UFA

But this is hypothetical. They aren't set at 7x7 that's not how negotiations work.

I'm not saying they are set. Nor am I saying that's how negotiations are going to work.

I am giving you only one hypothetical scenario, our of 20 that might exist, in which Kreider's camp holds fast to 7x7. I picked that number because it's been the most widely circulated.

Would you sign 7x7 as a final offer?

I think he gets at least that....Hayes did (yes, flyers overpaid)....I loved Hayes, but think Kreider is a better player.

I'm splitting the difference on scenarios that have him asking for more, and scenarios that have him asking for less.

In a world where 95 percent of what people dedicate hours to is hypothetical, I'm looking at one hypothetical scenario. I'm not asking people to share their social security number, or testify under oath about their internet viewing habits.

I just want to take the one scenario and see where people fall.

Depends. Does this scenario include trading skjei and fast?

Also does his contact include a full nmc? Or a partial?

For the record, I go down a rabbit hole of YouTube reaction videos to Pink Floyd's "Time" I love watching people have their minds blown or start crying or both.

I fully understand the thought process that at some point we have to turn a corner and that we can't rebuild forever... but this would only be the 3rd selling off. Not to mention that this team STILL needs 2 more young, elite-ish pieces before anyone can hope they'll be able to be a serious contender.

We need to spend the capital that we have to help in that endeavor.

CK has to be traded. If we really want him back sign him in July (though I doubt that will EVER happen).

7x7, full NMC.

You can make whatever moves you want afterwards. I won't even put restrictions on having to take back salary, or whether the Rangers would trade Skjei. That's entirely up to you.

Yes. They can buy him out in year 7 if need be, I think Girardi's buyout should be done by then. If I want him at 6.75 for 6, I'm not gonna let an extra year and change prohibit that.

7 x 7

No

7x7 is a competitive offer for him as a UFA after they already traded him.

And no, I am not offering him 7 x 7 then either.

Yet if they did trade him, and then as a UFA he was willing to go to like 7.5 x 5, with a limited no trade, that is where I become interested, yet that scenario just does not seem realistic.

The real question is, what team is gonna be the one who gets Kreider?

Does Kadri's injury mean Colorado might not want to go all in this year?

With Boston having Kreider at the top of their list, will they pay extra to get him?

Will St Louis push all their chips in to make another run at a cup?

Find out next time on Dragon Ball Z

How many times you sell off isn't really meaningful. You can sell every vet in one year or you can sell one year for a decade. What matters is how many vets you've traded and how many you have left to help the kids along.

Think about this. Derek Brassard was a little younger when we traded him for Zibanajad....that worked out pretty well for us didnt it? This could work out just as well as Kreider is the top trade target around the league where as Brassard wasnt.
I'd be interested in a trade that brought DeBrusk + from boston, think the guy needs a change of scenery.

We are not getting DeBrusk. That is a panic move and there is no reason to panic in Boston.

Nor does DeBrusk need some change of scenery. He has 34 points in his age 23 season. The previous two years he scored 43 and 42. Its not as if he is way off track from matching and/or eclipsing those totals as he continues his progression.

I mean if you go to the Boston forum they're talking like he needs a change of scenery. But I don't see how Debrusk would be available for a rental Kreider

Maybe if he had another season after this one, but a straight rental no way

Boston fans are about as reasonable as we are...
