- Mangiapane has the Tre connection
- Granlund has the swing ability to be Marner lite at 1RW or a potentially good fit at 2C
- Dvorak and Robinson add weight to be a more "Chief" team
- Boeser has the Matthews connection and can play the cycle game with the big boys while adding another shooting thread
- Donato fits the bill, if a bit risky as a flash in the pan type

Shipping out Reilly and using some of those assets on getting Andersson would be terrific. But the price would be astronomical I suspect.

What about bringing on Marsh from Nash?
I’m not completely against Boeser but aside from a bigger frame, what does he really add? He’s not physical, he’s not good defensively and outside of last season it looks like he’s more of a 25 goal scorer where his “shot” is his biggest weapon?
I’m honestly more so leaning towards trying to acquire Garland instead. Yes he’s small, but he’s not afraid to go to the dirty areas, he also adds speed which should definitely be a priority this off-season and is solid two-way.

No reason why those teams are moving away from those two players. They have not been the problem for either teams

We do need fast.. but he's only 170lbs, at 6'.... He doesn't really have a pro body.
One hawks fan said.... You can sign him for nothing in a year and a half, or maybe even claim him off Waivers before then. You have to hide and bury him on your 4th line just for him to plausibly exist and provide some 4th line level offense, but he also doesn't PK or do other normal 4th line stuff good.
If the prospect of a winger that is the 12th highest scorer on the 28th highest scoring team excites you, he's there for a 2nd round pick. Once we start getting closer to an actual value, Hawks probably just ride out the contract and hope something comes together.
He isn't big enough to be on the 4th line, doesn't do 4th things, isn't waiver eligible and so far hasn't shown any consistent glimpse of using his talent, or being close to playing higher in the lineup.
He's not even on a league minimum contract. $1.2 million. 22 points isn't terrible for someone with his linemates, and playing time, but he doesn't PK, isn't good defensively, doesn't check, isn't big, isn't strong... he's just kind of a fast, transition guy. Now with the right coaching, you could try and make him strong defensively, PK guy, who provides energy and speed.... But he'd really need to commit to working on his body, which doesn't seem like he's that interested in, at nearly 23.
I get the allure, but I look into him, and don't see a guy who is a, do what it takes to stick guy. Combine his natural talents, speed, with Robertson's work ethic and shot, and you'd really have something there.
I'd love to move Robertson for Krebs... but if that doesn't work, I'd move him for Reichel, despite what I've said about him.

This is the time of year when there may be so many options it’s hard to choose.
Looks like Reichel can fly, which is a good flyer to take.
Just from ideas in our thread that may or may not be feasible:
Potential low cost salary dumps with or without assets: Karlsson, Marchessault, Anderson, Kreider, Marchment.
Robertson ideas: play him with actual offensive talent, flip for Reichel or maybe Krebs.
Top six free agents: Ehlers, Boeser, Tavares, the FLA guys, riskier types like Suter or Donato. Maybe D like Gavrikov, Provorov.
Domi a 1RW? 2 or 3 LW? 3C?
Laughton the 3C, or an enviably deep 4c?
Keep Kampf to anxhor the fourth line?
Reclamation/upside gambles: Mangiapane, Fabbro
Big one year tickets: Kane, Benn.
Group 6’s, Steeves Blumel and Lycksell
Euro gambles like Shabanov
Multitude of FA bottom six fa’s.
Move off from Reilly? Or one of the extra LD.
Incorporate internals like Quillan, Cowan, WillyNeuve.
Move off one of the goalies?
Sooooo many possible permutations….so many that seem viable. it’s impossible to pick just one. I’m really looking forward to it.

I can't argue with this if you've watched him closer than I have (to be honest, I haven't watched him closely). Old scouting reports called him an "unrelenting forechecker and backchecker" and "committed to both ends of the ice". It sound like his game has gone downhill since then. I would hope that a change of scenery would bring back some of his old attributes.

While true that he's not *particularly* physical and not really a *plus* level guy defensively,
-he's got the size and willingness to get to and be effective around the net, and be effective on the wall
-he's not so bad defensively that his line can't be used power on power if the C is up to the job.
He's got a good shot yes, but I'd see he's evolved into more of an around 2A/1B winger than a pure sniper.
The hope would be that a Knies-Matthews-Boeser line would be more balanced with all three guys being able to win pucks, score from space, get to the net- and that another shooting threat that can play in traffic and pass would open more space than a pure passer that defenders are content to leave to the perimeter

Faksa is big and can fit a role as a good faceoff 3C or 4C Dvorak could also fit that exact same role
I'd also like to target Appleton he can slide in top/middle 6 with ease
On D, Fabbro would be #1 option ...if we blow the bank, Ekblad, but, I'd rather take the risk that Fabbro continues his upward trajectory

I've got Anderson, or someone like him at $1.5... signed after a buyout... if it's $2.75 mil, I'm looking elsewhere, there are plenty of options that I've listed. I'm using Capwages, and they do projections, based on production, previous cap % for that age, production, and then prorated for the current Salary Cap. Provorov is $7. Ehlers is $8.1
It's a shame it doesn't copy and paste the same way CapGeed used to, otherwise I'd share, but the numbers actually work. Tavares at $5, Knies at $7.1 Tavares is the only one I put in, they've got him higher.. the rest I just used their numbers. This lineup is at $95.6.. so 100k over... but I'm sure there is a way to get it under... I'm not going to sweat $100k on a projection.

You can use deferrals.
Ehlers I believe is 8.1M on a 6 year projection but if they gave him the 7th year, I wonder if it can get down to 7.5M - it all helps.

if the Cap works, I'd still be inclined to make some changes ...Ehlers is a good player, but, oft injured, so a bit of a risk.
McMann though, I want gone, or in the bottom 6
would rather spend less and grab Fabbro to inject a slightly younger with more upside defender
I'm higher on some of your 'options' vs the lineup
Jeannot and Eyssimont both for the 4th and would like to see what Appleton comes in at.

8-9 Any higher I'd let him go elsewhere. I tend to agree with you on the cap aspect, I was commenting moreso on what a player like him would bring in terms of the line dynamic.
