Jeannot: 1.4Mx2 - I'll bet every dollar I have that he gets more than this. His value has always been much higher around the league. What’s Jeanott and B. Tanev supposed to get? I definitely can see us being interested if they make it to ufa.
Dobson, given age, position and size, is likely more valuable than Nylander in a trade. Dobson scored 70 points in his age 23/24 season. Nylander didn't accomplish that until he was 25.If Islanders offered us Dobson+Horvat for Nylander would you take it?
Robertson for Marchessault
Something for Kopitar.
Marchessault hits, he shoots, he scores, Nashville might not be the right place for him, he's a Conn Smythe winner, he's a cup winner, and his contract fits perfectly for 2nd RW.
Kopitar cup winner and does everything you need as a top 6 center, and his contract expires and gives you a shot to go McDavid hunting.
#1 and #2 targets this offseason. Do it yesterday.
Cowan Matthews Nylander
Knies Kopitar Marchessault
Why would LAK ever move off Kopitar?Robertson for Marchessault

I'd still make the trades like Robertson + 3rd.Why would LAK ever move off Kopitar?
Why would NSH accept Robertson for Marchessault? Many teams beat that offer in a heartbeat. His value is probably a 2nd round pick, Robertson's is probably a 4th or 5th.

It's safe to assume, given his current production relative contract, their lack of C depth (Byfield probably a winger), and his storied tenure with the organization, that he is not moving. And LA might not trade Kopitar or they might go in a younger direction after firing their GM. I'd be making calls and trade offers regardless.
He doesn't have to go this offseason. He's still #2 in 5on5 scoring in the playoffs the past 5 years I think.Reilly needs to go
He absolutely 100% unequivocally has to goHe doesn't have to go this offseason. He's still #2 in 5on5 scoring in the playoffs the past 5 years I think.
I'd give him another year. His cap hit won't mean much when the cap is at 113m

If I were Leafs scouts I'd be looking at some of those Danish players for realJust bring in everyone on team Denmark lol. Guaranteed winning season
Yes if rielly is goneIf Islanders offered us Dobson+Horvat for Nylander would you take it?
No, we need to move on.
The core itself needs to be broken up, at least 2 of the 5 need to be changed out for the change to feel meaningful.
Marner is walking and then you're choosing 1 more of Matthews, 88, JT or Rielly.
Matthews and 88 have been re-signed by Tree, recently too.
So JT that just scored 38 goals or Rielly? Rielly was mostly bad this year. Easy choice for me.
3 top 6 forward additions is enough for me.
Our problem is scoring 1 goal in game 7s, so thats my target. Adding more game breakers.
So it seems Tavares is back 100%. Couple of things now. Is he brought back to be the 2nd line C, or 2nd line LW or do we pick up one more center and Tavares is now the 3rd line center? Obviously all these questions will be answered once free agency begins and we see who we target or trade for
I keep seeing Byfield come up in fantasy trades for Matthews as a 1C replacement, but, like you said, I've seen no evidence that he's going to be a long-term C!It's safe to assume, given his current production relative contract, their lack of C depth (Byfield probably a winger), and his storied tenure with the organization, that he is not moving.
Danault on the other hand - he could probably be had for an overpay.
I would think if they're bringing in Marner they'd be more likely to dump Moore.I keep seeing Byfield come up in fantasy trades for Matthews as a 1C replacement, but, like you said, I've seen no evidence that he's going to be a long-term C!
I've been reading articles that LA may be interested in Marner. I wonder if a sign+trade could get us Danault from LA? They may need to get rid of his 5.5 cap hit to fit in Marner. Given that Danault is one of the most defensively elite 2C/3Cs in the league, I would figure we would have to add on to the sign+trade, but I'd do it in a heartbeat. Total shutdown beast.
You're in a way better spot if he's able to play 3C and can find someone for 2C. Adds a lot more depth to the 3rd line if you can play Tavares there. If he's still your 2nd line center, I think you're in a good spot. If you can elevate your team and he switches to LW, I think that's also fine but it won't be the penultimate move to make everything explode in unlocking the true potential of the team.
