Let’s say AZ offers a 2nd for Georgiev
Can’t deal him without Shesterkin signed or just do it ?
cheap vets in ufa

Strome replies to Goodrow's tweet trying not to get traded. Meanwhile, Buch gets into the car with Shesty trying not to get traded.
Nah. They were both driving to Vancouver. If you look closely I think Kravtsov is sleeping in the back.
Elias waiting on Dolans Gulf Stream.

Selecting a goalie at 15/16 would be a monumental mistake for this team’s trajectory over the next 3 years. Goalies take at minimum 3 years to develop. No, Spencer Knight being rushed by Florida because Bob fell off a cliff is not the norm for development. You think Benny Allaire is going to get his hands on Wallstedt and give his approval after just 1-2 years? Nope. Look at the success for a lot of our young goalies. They all took time to get to the league, which was overseas first and then some time with Benny. Obviously Hank was directly to the NHL.

Trade the pick or Select a Center

Or we can trade them for other assets. I still think we need to keep the pipeline going.

We have 9 picks in this draft, including 6 in the first 4 rounds. The 3rd round pick we got from Buffalo is essentially a 2nd rounder.

Trading a 20 year old LHD who has progressed very well since being drafted for two 2nd round scratch off tickets isn't the best way to keep the pipeline going.

The Canucks supposedly rejected an offer for Holtby from Seattle, and there are 5-8 teams interested in him.

Rumor: - Sportsnet Macintyre: Canucks rejected a deal for Holtby to Seattle They feel they have better offers

If there's any truth to that at all, then Vancouver isn't paying someone to take him.

True but that deal was to retain salary. If Seattle really wanted him they would have taken him instead of Lind in the exp draft. I think their goal is to move him without retaining $ to sign EP & if it's moving back 6 spots I think that's fair ask. Maybe I'm wrong but I don't think a lot of teams with cap space are willing to take him on without Van giving up something.

Don’t we already have a goalie prospect in Olof Lindbom?
I never have bitched on here or gotten on any soapbox claiming that I could do better than any coach, scout or manager.

Until that pick.
I didn't even whine about McIlrath.

I'm telling you though, I remember an interview shortly after the draft and you could tell that Gorts was not happy about that pick. He was questioned on video and seemed generally annoyed to talk about it.

There are probably other ways to get a deal done, but I'm guessing that Eichel isn't going to be a Ranger today if that's the only acceptable route for Buffalo. Historically, trades inside the top 10 rarely, if ever, happen.

Over the past 10 drafts, the only 4 teams not to make their top 10 picks were NJ (2012), Arizona (2017), Ottawa (2019) and SJ (2020). AZ and NJ traded their picks on draft day. Both Ottawa and SJ were a result of trades that took place well before each draft. Even so, that's 4 out of 100 top 10 picks picks that were traded over the last 10 years...

Unless Drury has the rest of the Eichel offer in place and agreed on, it sounds quite ambitious for us to go out and acquire a top 10 pick and then compile an offer for a player like Eichel over the next 12 hours.
It’s concerning, if true, that Drury would even attempt to do that.

You know, selecting a goalie could be a good thing in one very specific way. If we are entering our cup contention within the next 2-3 seasons, we will likely stay there 2-5 years or more. In 2-3 seasons, the team may have a lot of talent to pay and wouldn't it be great if we had another elite goalie on an ELC during that window instead of paying Shesty 6-7m? From a team building cap perspective having another young goalie who is ready to play in 3 years and will only make ELC money into year 5 might be a smart move.

I am of the belief you take the BPA in the first round. You never pick for need in the first round. especially mid-round when the picks are likely a few seasons away from going AHL/NHL. So, if the choice is middle six center, future #1 goalie, I think I lean goalie. I'd rather have the elite talent and figure out what to do with it when I have too much. After the first when the draft becomes a crapshoot, then all things equal I'm picking with the idea we need more center depth in the organization.

One thing that we keep hearing over and over again with forward prospects is this "is he a wing or a center at the NHL" question. It's an endless question for so many kids drafted as centers. And so many turn into wings. Look at Chytil. Is he a wing or a C? We STILL don't know and he was drafted in 2017 as a C. Drafting a C to fill an organizational need in the mid first round is really hard -- you could just be drafting yet another good/decent winger. So, if the goalie is elite. And not just good/pretty good/great. But someone with unanimous praise. You gotta strongly consider the goalie.

Finally -- the only goalie prospect that may have legit #1 goalie after Shesty is maybe Garand. Wall, Huska, Georgy are all backups likely. We do need something else legit in the pipeline in the next few years. This idea that Shesty is the next Hank and will play for us for the next decade is a highly suspect assumption. Shesty looks good but he has not proven he's that kind of guy yet for us. And even if he turns out to be in the stratosphere as Hank, can we afford to pay him in 3 years if we have Laf, Kakko, Panarin, Fox, Miller, Lundkvist, etc etc.

he was annoyed a year later too. What the heck happened there? Wrong name? Unprepared?
