I really cant see Eichel getting back any where close to 'fair value'. Top prospects and picks is the best they can hope for.

He's not happy, he has a bad neck, he has a NMC kicking in next year and he makes $10M. It sucks to be Buffalo. The faster they get it over the better.

I was responding more to your claim that the Rangers chose to expose Blackwell over Rooney because he was ‘undersized’. Maybe you just meant short.

I meant that the Rangers are trying to become tougher to play against--both in terms of mentality and pure physicality. Blackwell definitely has the approach they want, but from a physicality standpoint he was lacking. At least relative to Rooney, who similarly has the mentality they want but also seems more rugged and capable of withstanding the rigors of playing in a bottom six role (which would likely be where Blackwell would have found himself this season).

I really think it has an equal amount to do with their positions, honestly, but the other stuff I think factored into it as well.
