Buch for Thomas+
Strome for Soucy + 2nd
Draft Svechkov

Stay the course

*look to add more vet leadership and another banger as the 12/13th forward

As the USA TODAY Network reported in March, the Rangers were likely to explore an Eichel trade package featuring one center (Ryan Strome or Filip Chytil), one winger (Pavel Buchnevich or Vitali Kravtsov), one of their top defenseman prospects and their 2021 first-round pick.
They are not willing to discuss goalie Igor Shesterkin, No. 1 overall pick Alexis Lafrenière or Norris Trophy winner Adam and would be very reluctant to include forward Kaapo Kakko or defenseman K'Andre Miller.
All of that remains true

Jack Eichel Rangers: Trade possible before NHL Draft?

If there is no good C option available (Larkin, ROR, Hertl), then what about signing Krejčí for 1-2 years? We could give him a good short term deal. After that look at centers like Barkov etc. again.

He gave 6 years to a player that doesn't score 10 goals a season.

Forget the AAV, Drury set a horrible standard with the length of the deal.

It's like giving a relief pitcher a 6 year deal.
I just explained why he has to do it. But I guess those factors dont matter

One of the reporters said he's closing in on a deal to re-sign with Boston (can't remember who or when but it was said along side Hall).

Rangers' RFA quandary starts with Pavel Buchnevich

How long will we have to pay for Gorton’s contract management? Buch wanted a long term deal when he signed the 2 year contract. How valuable would Buch have been today if he had say 4 years remaining on a 4-5m contract?

But didn't we just scrape by in terms of cap room last year? We probably didn't have any more money to have given Buch without cutting something else.

There might be, but what else is coming back to the Rangers? You can't trade a 2nd line center for a player like Saucy. 2nd round pick may be?

I would think Seattle would want a pick in return for Saucy to start building up their system.

I don't see how Seattle has anything I want for Strome.

The only things I'd want from them for Strome is either their first pick this year or next year, but obviously both of those are not on the table and rightfully so.

But after that they have nothing I want. Strome shouldn't be shuffled away for less than his value just cause we need a defenseman. That's what free agency is for, sign someone there if you need a veteran stopgap.

Always maximize your value in trades.

I'm in the minority that would rather see Nils deal over Schneider.

He's just a better fit for the team, and Nils will be fighting for PP time, so we wouldn't be maximizing Nils talent.

He also has more value and a better trade chip.
For me I'd rather hang on to Nils. For three years since we drafted him, we've hyped him up as the best D prospect outside the NHL... and then we trade him before he ever sees Rangers ice? No thanks.

If the Sabres are trying to trade JE, why wouldn't they share medical records to teams interested in him?

I mean without knowing the medical prognosis...

HOW THE f*** IN GOD'S HOLY NAME CAN WE WANT THIS GUY?!?!?!?!
I thought this was obvious but...

They can both explore potential trade options and also want to stay away if the medical records aren't available/aren't satisfactory. No one in the world is suggesting we'll make a deal without knowing the extent of his injuries.

Yes true.

Define "all reputable services."

But anyway, even using that ranking, that's my point. Schneider was at best ranked in the mid to late teens where he could have been considered appropriately selected at 19. He was not some huge steal. He's like your regular 15th-20th overall pick in terms of talent level.

He is beginning to be a little oversold on this forum I think if we are saying he's equal to Laf/Fox. He's not even really equal to Nils/Kravtsov.

People are beginning to homer out in their evals of Schneider because it's clear the Rangers are very high on the skills Schneider is going to bring, ie, they have publically announced (essentially when they made the Schneider pick and then followed it up with Cuylle in the second) that they need more underskilled grit and toughness. Because the organization has signaled it may stick with Schneider over the more talented Lundkvist, people are getting their ducks in a row.

I'm not saying Schneider is Dylan McIlrath but he doesn't have the top potential like Nils does. If the Rangers value him more then it's because they want someone who can bang, not because they are trying to get the best actual players. They are going for "best fit," more than "best talent."

Which is fair to an extent.

But to say Schneider is in that tier, IMO, is just wrong, he's not.

McKenzie had him a 17
Redline had him at 20
BB had him like 11

You said that he wasn't great value at 19. He went exactly round where he was supposed to go.

Nils wasn't universally regarded as a 1st the year he was taken either.

I wouldn't put either of them on the Fox/Lafreniere level (more people have done that with Nils than they have Schneider btw.) IMO, both should be available this summer if the deal is right (I'd deal Nils first in that case for a multitude of reasons, I understand why others may not.)

They're not too far off from one another. I know Nils had a really good season this last year, but so did Schneider.
