This team is much better than last years team.Ok. I’ll take Buchnevich over Blais and Goodrow.
Here’s the bottom line. If the Rangers get better it will because that Lafreniere, Kakko, Kravtsov, Chytil group takes a leap. If not, they have lost too much offense. The Rangers will not be better because of Blais or Goodrow. They’ll check harder, but it’s not raising the ceiling of the team.
That remains to be seen. This team is much better than last years team.
Gallant is a multiplier of that as well
Not necessarily. If anything now they are too unbalanced in the other direction. That’s why the kids need to take a leap to improve the team. Rangers still need to put points up.
The Islanders go far because they are the best coached team and they have the most continuity and chemistry. They aren’t just big.
Teams need to be able to score too. That’s why Vegas didn’t beat Montreal if you want to go there.
The kids will have Zib on one line and Panarin on the other. It's not like they are hanging them out to dry. They're in a pretty ideal situation to start taking steps forward. That remains to be seen.
They are only better if the kids take a leap.

They were unbalanced last year too. That’s why they missed the playoffs. They had all of those guys last year too. Buchnevich put up 50 points and was their best penalty killer. Blackwell wasn’t exactly chopped liver either. The kids need to step up or there isn’t enough balance. They got tougher but sacrificed a lot of offense.Unbalanced my ass. You don't think they will put up points? LAF, Mika, Kakko, Panarin, Strome, Kravs, Krieder, Chytil, Fox.... I think they will be fine.
Sure. And that’s why it remains to be seen. The kids will have Zib on one line and Panarin on the other. It's not like they are hanging them out to dry. They're in a pretty ideal situation to start taking steps forward.
Don't need to look too far. Adam Fox just won the Norris on an ELC. Igor Shesterkin led the team in starts by a wide margin on an ELC. I don't imagine there's a team that gave out more ice time to players on ELCs last season. This team needs to let the kids grow. Look around the league, many young players are allowed to play and grow and become difference makers on their ELC's. These young kids need to be given that opportunity and the team needs to know what they have.
Vegas was 3rd in the league in GPG last year. LOL at them not being able to score.
They ran into problems in the playoffs because their PP was shit. 5v5 they scored more goals than anyone other than Tampa (47 vs 44, in 4 fewer games.)
Rangers were 8th in the league at GF 5v5 last year with Zibanejad basically doing nothing for the first half of the season. The future of this team was always going to hang on the success of the kids developing into difference makers. If they don't, they're f***ed with or with out Buchnevich.
Nope. Youngest team in the league. And they adding Hopefully Barron on ELC this year, but signing all the vets and trading for Blais I’m sure upped our overall age average. Especially ReavesDon't need to look too far. Adam Fox just won the Norris on an ELC. Igor Shesterkin led the team in starts by a wide margin on an ELC. So if you look at Gudbranson's stats for the last (2) years they aren't THAT Bad really.

His point totals look bad but if you weigh in his defensive zone start percentage you can see one of the reasons he is out-shot on the ice. His year in Anaheim (2019-2020) was low-key a solid year for a depth d-man playing above his head in terms of minutes it appears.
Again, he shouldn't come in and be a top-6 Game 1 guy, but in terms of a depth signing? I'm game.
To put this in perspective, Gudbranson is significantly better than Tinordi and it's not really close.

In theory, it should come together. That remains to be seen.

no. there's never a good reason to sign bad players. for depth or otherwise.
there's tons of good enough d-men that can be a #7 over a trashbag on skates like Gudbranson
I always though DeBoer was a 'loser'.Vegas was 3rd in the league in GPG last year. LOL at them not being able to score.

I agree, especially with defined roles and what gallant expects out of each line. The Buch trade was important to give one of our young stud wings more minutes on one of the scoring lines. This team needs to let the kids grow. Look around the league, many young players are allowed to play and grow and become difference makers on their ELC's. Yeah, you almost have to wonder if the Rangers aren't secretly hoping schneider looks like he needs some time in the A. Either way, a full season of top pair minutes in hartford would probably be the best thing for schneider anyway.Jones being able to play both RD/LD and having played games well last season for the rangers certainly makes him a likely candidate.
I’m wondering what happens if Schneider has an absolutely lights out camp, what do they do? Do then send him to the AHL anyway? Seems most likely. But it’s not out of the realm of possibility
