Don’t joke, NIST just came out with similar guidelines.

What are the Kings plans for Turcotte and Kupari?

Kopitar is signed for three more season. $10M AAV.
Danault just signed a 6 year contract.

The Kings have Byfield. He will be in the mix at center. I read the Kings will most likely move Vilardi to wing.

Where does that leave Turcotte and Kupari? They could move to the wing. Blake said centers can play wing but wingers can't play in the middle. Messier might the only guy who was a winger and became a terrific center.

The Rangers have so many D prospects. Nils Lundkvist is going to be an excellent player. The Rangers also have Braden Schneider. He is going to be an excellent player. They are different players. Schneider fits better into the Rangers wanting to be a very combative team(I am trying to find the right word). Tougher. Grittier. Schneider is a very competitive player. His complete level was 5/5 in his draft year. The TSN draft preview. He can also play the game. He is not some brute.

Lundqvist for either Turcotte or Kupari. Or another young center.

You don't want to see the Rangers trade Lundkvist but they have depth at the position. Give to get.

I suspect the Kings plan is pretty much the same as the Rangers plan for the kids (I hope) - see what you have at the NHL level and then decide. I think Kupari is worth more a Jones than a Lundkvist, but for whatever reason there seems to be a serious dearth of actual centers in the NHL right now so if he proves he can become a real center the price definitely goes up. Turcotte I want to see more of, his post draft record is marred by injuries and illnesses so I find it hard to place him, which I guess the Kings also do.

I’d like to think that the Rangers scouted the hell out of LA’s prospects this year in anticipation of a possible trade. I don’t know how the feel about those players today but between their pro experience and previous pre draft looks, they should have a pretty good book on who they like and can visualize as a Rangers. I’m all for a value for value trade.

Yeah self-rent Strome and put Lafreniere in his spot on the god damn power play already.

That's the only downside to keeping Ryan around is if he continues to block Laf's amazing shot on that halfwall.

Also to RB's post following my own- that's about the only scenario I'd be happy we traded Nils is if we got a stud blue chip C prospect back.
Yeah, unless a major upgrade is available I'm fine keeping Strome for now. We just can't roll out that 4 RH shot PP1 anymore. Hopefully Gallant is smarter than Quinn about this.

Good prospect for good prospect trades rarely happen but in the case of NYR/LAK, they really need to. The issue is, I think the Kings think they have better D prospects than we do as well. I’m hoping Lundkvist, Robertson, and to a lesser extent Jones keep it up because I think they are currently underrated around the league.

Do they think that though?

they have some guys with nice potential (and honestly, I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if Brock Faber becomes the best player out of any D prospect in both systems) but in terms of league wide value? Our guys blow their guys out of the water.

wasn't that Kane's laundry?

I heard it went beyond that and it's plausible because Kane did in fact get traded soon after.
Anywho, nobody likes this guy and for good reason.. He's a shit stirrer.
Next stop, Switzerland!

I’ve seen guys turning down D for C proposals because they don’t need the D. No idea what their FO thinks.

Everyone wants to hold onto their prospects until they either know they're super stars or busts and then think they can trade the busts for useful assets

Bottom line is you screw yourself over if you try to hold onto them all indefinitely
